need a list of infinite baffle subs

I've heard a BMW IB install with 2 IDQ 15"s it sounded amazing. It should get pretty loud, but don't expect too much. IB setups are mainly so u can get the flattest response on all frequencies. Be playing those 20hz notes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

BTL, you've been around here long enough to know what is good and what isn't. I'm surprised you posted such a topic in the first place...

Excursion, low Fs and power determines a good IB driver.

If you're after cheap, the blowout drivers from Acoustic Visions should be on the top of your list. I will guarantee once you exercise the suspension on one of those, the Fs will drop. All around decent driver.

As Taxi has stated here before, IB is not IB until you reach 10x VAS. If you don't reach that, you are dealing with a large sealed box. And a leaky one at that...

Hope this helps you.

see i should know but ive never thought about doing an ib before so now im asking what im looking for mine will go in the rear deck of my new car so whatever will work best for that.

but can someone reccomend a 600 rms at 4 ohms for that sub

Again, stick with some of the favourites - Kicker, Sundown, RF. 600 watts is 600 watts. Either way, you'll end up with super low bass. I just hope you like the sound it produces.

Does Infinite Baffle Really Exist in a Car?When a sealed enclosure volume gets large enough with respect to the volume of air equal to the speaker’s compliance, Vas, the sealed volume of air does not add to the suspension stiffness of the woofer. An average "rule of thumb" for determining when the volume of air in the trunk equals of exceeds three times of the Vas total of all the woofers. Even with the large size of many trunks, it is still possible to use woofers where the relationship between the total Vas of the woofer and the volume of the trunk leads to a situation where the air in the trunk does affect the mechanical operation of the woofers. In this situation, the trunk acts like a large leaky sealed enclosure.
So for a true IB trunk u would need about 30cft of trunk space. It's about the same wiether u get the IDQ or the SSA subwoofer.

You can go two routes for IB:

1) Low Fs, Low Qts

2) High-moderate Fs (low to mid 30s), High Qts

It's really a preference issue. Personally I prefer low Q alignments, so I prefer the Low Fs, Low Qts route.

Don't worry about the space. If you mount a driver to a baffle with the entire trunk as a box, it's pretty much going to function as IB. Once you get past a certain box volume, the difference between sealed and IB is rather negligible, as the driver really ceases to change in performance past a certain point. Don't worry about any 10x Vas formulas, they are totally unncessary.

Not a rule my friend, but a guideline. Noone has to follow it to a tee, just as noone has to follow anything else posted in this forum.

Best,

Mark

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=295-455 and I see alot of people talk of Usung the FI Q in IB, you have to call and special order them but Scott does something to them that makes them work well in IB setup, guess they like those cause of the excursion, of course using them in an IB in HT they are looking at play around 15hz or so, that may not be what you are looking for if you want them for ca
