need a home reciever.

well i have an old sanyo in my room now, and i like it, but it doesnt have a sub output for my behringer ep1500, so i wanna get another reicever. dont want to spend alot..like 150 max maybe, also, the internal amp doesnt really matter at this point becuase ill only be using it for a while, til i get my new towers built and the towers will be powered off their own amp. ive looked at a few sony's and pioneers, i dont know which ones are good, etc...anyone thats smart in this department please help me out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

For $150, you're not going to get anything great...so just buy whatever looks good to you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what do you consider "great"

i dont know what features i should be looking at, etc.

basically its to run a behriner ep1500, behringer a500, 2 towers with dayton mids in them (running off the a500) and a sub off the ep1500 (not sure on the sub yet)

its for music, not movies btw.

Well, you'd just be using the receiver as a preamp...so you could probably get away with using anything, as long as it had either two sets of powered outputs or a subwoofer out.

I don't have experience with anything in that price range, so I'm not going to suggest anything...

OP: why not just get a preamp?

I've got a Pioneer in the garage that's been going strong since 1980 and is powering a pair of Klipsch towers out there. There stuff is decent and available at BB and CC, so go out and demo a few. Since you don't need an A/V receiver you should be able to find something in that price range.

If you're sure you'll never be using it for HT then get a 2 channel, just not sure if many of those have a sub out, so you might have to do a line level if your amp supports that.

I believe JimJ runs tube amps, and a decent replacement tube will cost as much or more than the OP's budget //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

My budget Denon is 10x the OP's budget and I don't consider that expensive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I have a older Denon AVR 3000 if you are interested. It comes with the remote and manual (will have to dig for it) If you are interested, PM me to discuss price and shipping options.
