Story of My Life...
Looking to get a nice camera with my tax return money.

On a budget of $400 or less.

Want a digital SLR.

An older model from a couple years ago is fine.

Basically need a camera that can take better shots than my shitty little Kodak that does this:

Thanks

I was looking at a D40. the bodies can be had for a decent price, but the lenses are expensive. I'm looking for a complete unit.

I ran 14.39 @ 96.

Here's the exact times

R/T - .468

60' - 2.318

330 - 6.182

1/8 - 9.348

MPH - 77.26

1000 - 12.075

1/4 - 14.39

MPH - 96.76

that was with shitty tires and I spun all the way into 2nd. Now I'm chipped and tuned, launch control is at 3k rpm, 9300rpm redline, and brand new soft tires.

I'm going to buy a spare motor, build up the bottom end, and shoot for about 500whp. On a street tune, I'll have it on about 12lbs of boost, and double it for the track.

truth about the lenses lol, thats a hell of a redline wish my "redline" had a higher one lol 62xx for me lol but nice built teggys are fun cars

ive been looking for a month or two, about to buy one soon, the main feature i wanted was live view where you can use the lcd to take pictures, the d40 uses older tech, you can only take pictures with the eyepiece, same with the D60 and a few others, not really a bad thing, if im going to buy one why not go ahead and get one that will do live view

the 2 i was looking at are the canon rebel xs and sony a300, leaning toward the Canon, list is 600, can be had on newegg and amzon for ~450 free shipping, alot newer tech than D40, comes with 18-55mm lens, can get a pcakage with 18-55 and 75-300 lens for about 50 more with the deal canon has going on now

to my knowledge the D40 dosent have a image stabilized lens, have to step up to the D60 for VR(vibration reduction) lens, canon seems best deal for me right now comes with 18-55mm IS lens and the deal with a 75-300 zoom lens for only about 50$ more for a 200$ lens is pretty good, for what i need it will be perfect, dont need a 1000$ lens

sony has a a200 without live view for decently cheap, or a300 adds live view and a350 has a 14mp sensor with live view

just go play with them at a store and see what you like, i do like the way the nikon feels, but i will probably end up with the canon

canon

D60

can get camera and 1 lens for 550, or this package with extra lens for like 30$ more

IIRC, the D40 doesn't have an internal autofocus, so it has to be internal to the lenses...

That being said, Nikon's manual-focus F mounts are some of the best (and very inexpensive) lenses out there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif My advice would be to stay away from the cheap zooms that are out there, 90% of your everyday photography can be done with a fast (f1.8 or under) 50mm prime, maybe get an 80 or 100mm short telephoto for portrait stuff or when you want a compressed DOF. Most of those 'package lenses' are way too slow.

14's is walking, not running...
STFU, didn't ask for your opinion, and what are you running that "runs". The car was pretty much stock on that run. I had it turbo'd for a fll two days, made 347 at the wheels, the head lifted, hydrolocked the motor and cracked a sleeve. Now I'm back N/A running the same and better times.

Still looking for a camera, have about $6-700 to spend now. I don't want a camera that has so many features it's impossible to use, but something that takes high quality shots.
