Need a different radio head?

I have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata and me and my buddies installed a Boss 611UAB,

After about 3 weeks, the background light wouldn't turn off when the car was off. Boss tech support had no ideas. I thought it was a faulty head, so I bought another one, fixed it for about 3 weeks, but again, eventually the backlight wouldn't stay off. I took it to a local car audio guy who confirmed the wiring was fine, and said the blue ground wire being exposed might have shorted it, but was not sure. So I can either tape over that wire and buy another one, but preferably I'd want to buy a different head that uses the same wiring diagram so I can just swap it out easily. The current one is shot and won't turn on except for the light. If that doesn't work, I might be doomed to throwing 200 bucks at Car Toys.

Ditch the Boss and get a better head unit from a better company. Kenwood, Pioneer or Alpine is where I would start. Pick a budget and the functions you are looking for and get shopping.

its a 30 dollar piece of $hit HU, you have already bought 2 of them and ur considering a third? stop being so cheap and buy a decent HU

Agreed, it definitely *****. I just want to know what other specific ones I could buy that I could just sub in without any re-soldering.

and no you cannot just buy a different "head"(im thinking u meant face) and slap it on there. that has to be the craziest question i ever heard

If I were you I would get a new head unit and wiring adapter harness for your car and start fresh. Spending the extra hour and soldering the new wires would give me peace of mind.

The radio guy said the harness was common and there would be non-Boss ones that I could just plug in. He might be wrong, but it's a simple and specific enough question to ask that might solve the problem. If it fails, I would return it and start over, but I'm not sure how to compare the harness diagram of the 611UAB to other very similar ones.

Sorry I don't know about the similarities vs differences on head units wiring harnesses. The only time I ever considered using the same wiring harness with different head units they were the same brand and even then I didn't do it. If it is such a common wiring harness then ask "the radio guy" for some model suggestions.
