Im looking for a 4way Amp to power up these speakers I just bought for my 03 Toyota 4runner.

Headunit: Kenwood KVT-617DVD (To be installed the same day as the speakers)

Front: Alpine SPS-609

Back: ALPINE SPS-17C2

I know that I should of bought 6.5 for the front.. but in my car that isin't possible as it have 6x9 openings and I don't want to try any mods.

Currently in the back of the car I have a Sony XM-4060gtx 600 watt RMS Amp. It just powers my tweeters which are going to come out when I install these speakers. I read online that this amp does 60 Watt RMS @ 4 OHMS x 4. Is this good enough to get good sound from the speakers or should I trash the amp and get a new one?

I want your opinions on what should I do... I was looking at other amps some from hifonics... such as this one:

http://sonicelectronix.com/item_6519_Hifonics+ZXi+6406.html#

P.S.: I know sony is trash.. but it seems the amp is doing it's job with the tweeters, but It does have this problem in my car that If I raise the volume too high the amp shuts off.. I don't know what it means.. since I did the installation myself.. and It's daisy chained from my other amp.

I just want it sound clean but loud... I listen mostly to hip-hop, some Rock & RnB & Regeaton.

Well.. I did some research and it seems The Power Acoustik PS4-1600 is going to do a real good job for me.

150RMS @ 4 Ohms x4

It might be a lil overrated but I didin't want to drop a fortune on a amp for highs.

I also bought a Cap... with a 800 RMS amp and a 600 RMS amp.. I Think I might need it so I bought a 2 farad.

Will take to be installed soon... will post pics after installation.

No cap! Please!
The power acoustik will do alright. I have one in my g/fs car and it gets the job done.

But again, DITCH THE CAP.

To tell you the truth.. Ive yet to hear a car with there speakers amplified.. is it much of a diffrence? I know most that most headunits.. throw out 22RMS.. so is it a huge jump from 22RMS to that 125-150RMS range?

Most people who buy caps think of it as adding a battery. But they are wrong. All it does is store power to even out the voltage flucuations.Unless you have a good eletrical with very little voltage drop the cap serves no purpose.

Yes you will see a big differance in clarity as well as output.
I hope it is... Im just gonna add the cap anyway.. It dosen't make any diffrence for me. It's just insurance so my lights won't dim.

That's a nice deal that you have for you sig.. if I would of seen that when I was looking for my flipout.. i probably would of gotten it. I got a good deal for mine.. It was 430.00 shipped.

Probably won't see much improvement to dimming. As stated you are NOT adding any current to the system which is why you are seeing the dimming, especially with a stock electrical. An extra battery in the trunk would do you better and costs about the same as a cap.

As for the mids and highs you will be impressed. When I first started out I wondered the same until I upgraded. And I never went back since!

Yeah that's too bad its a great unit...good luck.

Well Aren't I adding a new amp? I have one that powers my subs right now but Im swapping out my sony one for the new PA one. I think the PA is going to draw even more power?

Not quite following you??If you are adding another amp it will draw more power which will make the dimming worse.
Ok let me break it down... I currently have 2 amps

MA Audio (which powers my subs) and Sony Amp (which just powers my tweeters)

Im gonna swap out My Sony Amp with The Power Acoustik Amp (which will power the 4 speakers).. but I got the cap because I know the PA Amp takes more power than the sony one.

You understand me?

And from what I read online it's true what your saying that Caps are only used for certain times such as when a deep note is playing like that.
