Need a 12'' that will out-do my last 18""!!

Hey all,

I sold my 18'' Fi BL recently due to the fact that I actually want a trunk in my monte carlo. My question is, what 12'' sub can get as loud or louder than the 18'' BL? My price range is about $400. Maybe a 12'' BTL? It would be getting about 1300 watts. Thanks

i don't think you'll have any luck finding a 12 thats louder than an 18. unless you are using a LOT more power on the 12

or an audioque or DD sub tuned around 38-40hz with a good 2-3000 watts.

it's all going to depend on the box, tuning and power.

yea, thats bout right. but it's not gonna last to long as a daily setup. it's gonna be wangin hard to keep up.

well kinda depends honestly before everybody says not possible. What was the first box like on the 18. cubes tuning?Remember box can be a depending factor. I had two 12's and 1200 watts that was twice as loud as this guy with 8 15's in a suburban and 2000 watts. he went sealed and had them firing different directions. Install is a lot of it honestly. Depending on how good of an install the first one was it may be VERY possible to do it. Also had you thought about doing a single 15. Honestly I think you could do a audioque 12 in about a 5 cube 6th order Bandpass. also you never stated how much power was on that 18. that is a factor x we need in this problem.. even with same power I think it is possible depending on the installs. And before ANYBODY flames me remember potts in 05. had two 12's in MR1 for meca and won by like 10 db. Also was louder then class 2 class 3 and class 5. it was the BOX. he did it with two type R 12's lol. so tell us more about the 18's power and box

It would last long if its a good sub

Like 1 12 Mt will hold 3kwrms daily

Sweet, I used to drive a Monte Carlo. I had a 15" T3 TSS 15 that rocked your socks off with ~1800 watts. The wipers would flap around and the roof would sound like it's tearing apart.

If I remember correctly, the dimensions were 31" deep, 17" wide, and 16" tall and the ports were 17" long. I'll have to check to be sure. You will NOT be disapointed with that enclosure. I had to stagger the ports a little bit so the trunk arm would close correctly. Instead of 4 4" flared ports, 2 6" ones would work better. You could scale the box down if you still wanted a 12"
