Need 4 Speed: MW

If you're looking to the new NFS to be an Underground 3 you'll be disappointed. It isn't a continuation of the Underground series. While it does share some features with previous incarnations of NFS it is still a stand-alone game in its own right.

At the beginning of the game you're given a tricked-out BMW M3. You come into the town, race a few races, and the head honcho of 'The Blacklist' takes notice of you as these preliminary races are pretty easy to destroy the competition. You then enter a race (for pinks) against the Blacklist top dog but you will not win. Your ride has been tampered with and your race ends prematurely with a gut-wrenching series of bottom-end clanking noises eminating from your engine.

The rest of the game is about you working your way up the Blacklist (from place 15 up) so that you can get your car back. The introduction of police will at first be somewhat of a reminder of the earliest NFS: Hot Pursuit versions....but not for long.

Never mind.....I won't bother with a full review of the game but IMO it's definately worth a look. Not to put too fine a point on it but I'M having a freaking blast playing it (though I'm at a rather difficult stage and am having one helluva time getting past it - but if games were too easy to beat I reckon they wouldn't be worth playing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )

I agree that its definetly a game to take a look at it. MW has alot more exotic cars with a still a couple imports but only a couple. Not as much customization as the previous underground games but its still a great game none-the-less.

Hey Prowler, where you stuck at. I am not exactly stuck but I am at level 4 heat and having frustrating trying time to get out of it. Of course I can get caught and pay the fine or marker but that takes all the fun and frustration out of it.

i agree with most of that, i have the game for 360 and am very dissapointed...i was looking for an Underground 3 like stated and found it is nothing like that.

I have it for PC. I wish I had a better video card so I could enjoy it with full graphics accelerated.

This game is incredibly fun and addicting. The gameplay is better than the underground series, and the intermittant scenes with Josie Moran make you pay attention. Most of all, I like the free roam feature, that lets you tear up the streets and run into police chases ever so often.

Its a great game cop chases are awesome you can lose your car and theres spike strips/road blocks its a pretty fun game IMO , theres like 32 cars its not like underground when it comes to customizing it looks good on all the systems except ps2 cause they just made a ported version from 360 for the ps2 so it doesnt look as good.

There isn't as much customization in the game as it isn't an integral part of the gameplay as it was in the Underground series. In Underground you wanted to get the appearance as tricked out as you could to raise your 'reputation.' In Most Wanted the more recognizeable you've become the worse off you can potentially be.

I am currently #5 on the Blacklist, driving the Evo VIII with the best available parts (those that are unlocked at this stage) plus unique turbo upgrade and a unique suspension upgrade. It's not the actual races I'm having a tough time with - it's the milestones.
When you've taken Blacklist spot #5 some of the milestones are as follows: Earn 325,000 bounty in a single pursuit / Cause damages costing the state at least $150,000 in a single pursuit / 'Trade Paint' with 28 law enforcement vehicles in a single pursuit / etc. Well, this isn't impossible to pass but it's time consuming to earn that much bounty in a single pursuit. The longer you're actively running the higher your heat goes and the more intense the things they try to stop you. Every few hundred feet there's a roadblock with spike strips, heavy SUVs attacking you, blah blah blah. Twice now I have had a pursuit go long enough that I've collected enough bounty AND caused enough Cost To State to earn the applicable milestones but I've not been able to successfully evade afterwards. Keep getting stuck on spikestrips that I can't get around.

To lower your heat quickly as soon as you leave your safehouse goto the nearest shop and throw on some different paint, different vinyls, different rims, and a different hood. That'll immediately lower your heat from over 4 to just a bit over 1. There are only two ways to lower your heat: (1) Drive a different car and while racing races and evading police in that car the heat on the cars stored at your safehouse slowly goes down. The other is to simply goto the shop and change the appearance of the car ~ change the paint, the vinyls, the bodykit, the rims, the hood, etc and it will lower the heat as the cops will be looking for a car that fits a different description.

Here's one of the best tips I can give anyone playing this game or considering it:

When you defeat a Blacklist Rival you're allowed to take two markers off of them out of a list of six. They'll be sorted like this:

(*) (*) (*) (*) (*) (*)

The ones I've bolded we'll call the Left Group and the ones not will be the Right Group.

The Left Group gives you possibilities of getting Get Out Of Jail Free cards, Get A Car Out Of Impound cards, extra money, and maybe even the pinkslip to your rivals car! The Right Group will always be unique upgrades - parts, visual, and performance (in that order left to right IIRC).

Well, I have found that the possibility of taking the pink to your rival's ride exists EVERY TIME.

First earn enough bounty, complete enough races, and finish sufficient milestones to make you eligible to challenge the next Blacklist Rival in the list. After you've become eligible to race the next person on the list BUT BEFORE DOING SO go to your safehouse and save the game. (EA inserted the option of Jumping To Safehouse into the pause menu so long as you're not in an active police chase ~ how handy!)

After saving the game go and challenge your Blacklist Rival. After defeating him/her when you go to choose your two markers...if you end up NOT finding the pinkslip to their car? Go reload the game you just saved and challenge the BR again. Choose a different marker. What prize each marker location gives you is static. It doesn't change. So, if you don't get what you want the first time go back and do the BR Challenge again and pick differently. As there are only three possible places for that pinkslip to be three times is the maximum number of times you might have to rerun the BR Challenge to take their car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Hope that helps someone! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

I never thought of this but its actually a pretty good idea. Currently, I am at #7 on the black list. Up until now I have gotten every rivals car except the mustang I think it was. And this was all by luck.
