Need help with an Essay

Im in this writing class and I have to make up my own short story. I have this kid that stays home instead of goin away on a hoop scholarship to take care of his dad who is sick. Hes sick for about 3 or 4 weeks and then eventually he dies from the sickness. My problem is I don't know what he could be dying of that would last for 3 weeks like this and then cause him to pass away. I need help.... anyone have any ideas???

Trust me this is the best possible scenario under the guidelines our instructor gave us for this paper.

Why not just say he has cancer that was largely ignored due to stubborness and a phobia of hospitals?

Or how about ebola

Or hanta

Or west nile

Or avian flu

Or desentery from an infected anus

just say he had a heart attack (blood clot in the heart) due to high blood pressure and colesterol - and the son stayed home to make sure he wasnt straining himself, and then he died of a stroke (blood clot in the brain)

I woudl say either go for the stroke story or cancer. That in reality affects alot of people/families so that is a completely belieavble situation.

Father finds out he has cancer,only a few weeks to live,to late for chemotherapy

son comes home to look after him

father dies

son shoots himself for not saying he loved him
