Need 10" under 5"depth sub, HELP

its been a while since I had to search for a sub

( about 8-10 years ago, Memphis shallow ) and about 3 years ago the Kenwood Excelon

Prior I had MTX/Cerwin/Kicker/Pyle etc.. with all old school Class A amps ( A/D/S, Alphasonik, soundstream, Alpine )

Looking for something clean for all-type of music

Dayton - about $ 100ert

Sundown $ 150-200

JL TW3 $280-300

does this make JL the best ? or just the most expensive because of the name?

I have not heard any of these at local stores

I think one place nearby me has Hertz / Kenwood / JL

I too have been around alt of Class A and A/B amps..I still have a hell of a collection of A/b amps that I still like to run.Class D are really nice and have evolved quite well.Love my Zeds though.And Mmats old gems.Ill give it to JL..They Still do make some great amps,but you are going to pay for them.To me they are still selling the name..Others are just as good if not better for the money.Hertz make some damnned nice speakers even the energy are really nice to listen to,but the Milles are just fantastic man.Hks are another set that sound awesome. Subs?? there are better for the $kenwood isnt that bad for a shallow sub or for sealed enclosures for the $.I hooked a neighbors friend up with a really nice Xtant 600.1 wood grain amp that I now regret I sold and we put it on a pair of 12" Kenwoods SVC4 ohm subs in a sealed enclosure in a Ford Single cab and it sounded pretty dammned clean.fairly loud for as little as he spent on the subs and built the enclosure.I know from experiencing..for a ten that Dayton will sound really good 3-400 watts pretty clean too for the money.Took me a little while to get used to the new gear..Class D amps ect.I still like Class A/B on my mids and highs, most I use are at 0.01%TDH. Run a little warm but still working and still shelling out some clean USA power

One of the best shallow subs I ran in the past was a Kove shallow 10.. I ran it on an Autotek BTS 7100 and it sounded really nice in a sealed enclosure.Pretty tight bass and had just enough not to be over bearing , or bottoming out, set at approx 12'Oclock

Thanks. I have got used to my Little Alpine D sub amp. I remember using my A/D/S PQ20 in an older Tauras around 17-20 years ago..

I ran every speaker off one side of the amp, bridged the other side and ran 2 12" subs. It is an amazing amp.

I had 3 of them over the years, kept 1, which I use in my Jeep ( running at the moment dual 2ohm subs in a weatherproof box )

I think a lot of the old school companies cheated on their specs, the more speakers you ran off them the better they sounded and very under-rated power on the specs.

I will check out the Dayton sub / MY kenwood I am replacing is kenwood p-xw1000b ( very small excelon sealed sub )

Fits great under the seat - punchy and never bottoms out, but only really sounds good at mid volume. not a horrible sub, just not the greatest for the use of the space.

* I probably shoudnt' have tried my friends sub a few weeks ago, it was too large to fit. But I hooked it up in the back seat area just to try and it pounded so much

better, clean ( even for a ported sub ) it was an old school MTX . It got me thinking to try my sub from jeep ( It's very large dual 10 ) I put it on the back seat and just hooked

up 1 side ( sealed box with Memphis subs ) it also sounded so much better, smooth, clean and deeper bass. granted both were a lot larger than what i have under my seat. Just surprised me.
