Nah I can install it myself. I know what I'm doing

WTF is this thread about now??
I've seen much worse. That's nothing. In fact, I'll take above pics over what I've seen. Electrical tape is so 80's as it melts when it heats up and tends to lose its "grip" over wires.
Cheap tape does that. If I use electrical tape it's super 33. Tape has to be used on connections that can't use heat shrink such as a tap in connection commonly used in remote starts, alarms, and when installing LOCs. A small zip tie around the tape will also help ensure it never comes undone. Then the whole harness is wrapped in Tessa tape.

Yeah that's nothing. And if the barrel nuts are your fix that's not much better.
Not my fix. The crimp caps were on the wires when I pulled the radio out and even worse than the crimp caps are the scotch locks. Even worse they used the scotch locks to grab power for a 4 channel amp that is rated at 60 amps and ran 16 AWG wire to it. Didn't understand why the radio fuse kept blowing.

weird that a professional installer would see that mess and still leave the battery hooked up when working on it
In that particular install the customers hood was broken and I was specifically told not to open it. The radio fuse was pulled.

Yes well in this case and for the aformentioned pics, I see a lot going on. Those wire taps will need to be removed along with that electrical tape around wire to wire connections and butt connectors and heat shrink tubing can be used in this case. Remove the tape and use zip ties around the harness wiring once fixed. Tape not needed.

So you said you fixed the issues in the pics, show your work and lets see your fix job.

n/m.

Same thing my installer guy said he did a lot of too. Everyone thinks they can be a car audio installer because they can most often successfully install an aftermarket HU and better speakers. Which is kinda true, maybe?
John Kuthe
You couldn't !!

I'm doing an 08 Avalanche that had a "system" in it with the previous owner. Stock harness has been hacked to hell with EVERY wire tapped into. So much extra work smh.

Solder and heat shrink.
The only way imo. Check out the pics of the dash when I opened it....after I had the harness ready to drop in. Locs everywhere as well.

Never just tape without solder.

If your splices are done right you dont need solder to make a sturdy connection. I prefer using heat shrink over the connection but i havent had a problem with any of the radio's ive ever done including a touchscreen with a security box and bose sound system

Oh ya you could have installed it just not turned it on !!
NOT AS SIMPLE as you try to make it sound, and part of the reasons I will never again buy anything Alpine! Alpine just obviated their brand right OUT OF MY WORLD!!

And are you just so terribly envious of the fact that I know have enough MONEY to PAY OTHERS to do what I CHOOSE not to learn how to do for myself? ROFL if so!! Suffer in your POVERTY!!

A couple quick points...

Alpine makes a very good product and has been a industry staple for decades...you are simply incapable of reading/understanding the manuals and comprehending how the equipment works...as a result 'Alpine *****' ...No John, you **** at car audio not Alpine.

What exactly should anyone here be jealous of in regards to you having "enough MONEY to PAY OTHERS to do what I CHOOSE not to learn how to do for myself"? Learning to do it yourself (which should be easy for you especially after all your boasting about your technical prowess Mr EE) and actually doing it yourself builds PRIDE...that is something you can't buy...and the PRIDE I feel when I complete a challenging build or successfully try a new technique far surpasses any 'envious' feelings I harbor for other peoples' $$ or their ability to spend it.

You're an idiot.
