I worked with Dyncorp quite a bit, mostly with generator runs. You guys had all the nice trucks! And hell yeah, those B1's are badass. I got my reenlistment done in front of one. I was able to get off base a little bit, I worked with local boy scouts a bit. 

I've been around the world, and the only time I have ever actually got a bit of "culture shock" was when I seen the servants following the upper class around when they were shopping in the souqs. Blew my mind the first time I seen that for some reason. But I never was shown any aggression either.

 

lulz, ya you see that at the mall too. I kinda got used to it actually and felt bad for them. I mean, they're "free" people but honestly....they're fucking slaves. I did love the Sooq Al Wakif, was up in that bitch every other evening. I snapped a few pics below.

Yeah, went to that souq a lot. They had the falcons close by, and I always went and checked out the Tag Heuer knockoffs. I bought about 4, only one is still ticking lol.

Yeah pretty much. I was gettn' 245k but I also didn't do shit all day but watch tv and fix a pc here and there.

Currently work for dyn, but stateside. Dyn isn't great by what I've seen, but may be different elsewhere.

If she goes to a fob it will be shi tty. Seriously. I've got two friends over there right now who are both prior military and even they say the fob is bad. Mainly because they're small and not much between you and the enemy. If on a large base you are ok for the most part.

I wouldn't go for 115 but that's because I know my job can make more than that so I wouldn't take a "pay cut". If its a lot more than she can make here than try it I guess. Was just talking the other day with co workers how we would love to go back. Can be lots of fun, it's what you make of it

Would def recommend like others said to look at UAE, Qatar etc

For those curious, when applying for contractor jobs even if it says you need X quals, they don't always hold to that. Most will post more than the minimum to try to keep people away who aren't interested but also to look better to the govt that they are trying to hire "better" employees. Doesn't hurt to apply, as said some will pay for secret clearance others say you need one beforehand. Don't let that stop you from applying though you never know

A good place to start looking would be on dice.com....just do searchs for "oconus"....you'll find plenty all over the place. In places you didn't even know we had bases...or "camps"...

while i was in Kuwait, i looked in to what ITT would pay for a net admin job, and starting is $125k to 225k at Arifjan.(huge base)

i daydreamed about doing that for a few years to pay off my house and stockpile the cash for whatever.

She will go through Kuwait and be there for a few days 1-3 and fly to afghan

it will be a long ride for her.

also, hope you keep her happy.. cuz i promise you every guy there will be trying to hit it.

even the fat uglies get the lovin over there. we play by different rules when deployed.

Not me, I went thru Qatar to Bagram and ended up in Kabul. Just depends on the flight schedules.

It actually looks pretty neat. From here in America.

Gas over there is $1.30 a gallon, free school all the way up to college, every citizen gets $90k a year from gas sales, free healthcare....thats where your money went.

i feel should add some possible benefits after my post above. i wont change my post, because it is true, but you said this was a entry level position for her over there in the medical field..

she should be able to get her EMT-B there as well as other medical certs. i dont know if they will let her do the goat course, or if they even do it Oconus.

this would be a good time for her to do some online courses to work towards a degree.

while the pay is low for a hot area like afghan, it is still $$$ coming in, and a good portion should be tax free, but the exp she will learn over there could be more beneficial for when she comes back to the US looking for job. or maybe not.. i dont know too much about the medical side
