Secret clearance is the hard part. Some companies are lazy and wont get you processed for it, they just want people whom already have one.

So I can't get secret clearance because I havent done it before so I can't get secret clearance? wut?

Yeah if she has a choice, UAE or Qatar or Kuwait are way better places. I just got back in April from Qatar. I was not a contractor, I was one of those out in a trailer in the desert, but the contractors there live an amazing life for being where they are. It's pretty rediculous. I'm only mad because I can't do it......

But I did have a couple buddies recently (within the last 2 months) get back from FOB's in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Kyrgyzstan, and yeah, it's what you imagine and everyone else is saying. There are some more hardened places in those countries that aren't too bad though.

There are some companies that will not hire you without a clearance, is what he's saying. And he's right.

I wanted to get into Private contracting as well but dont have much in the way of qualifications...

She see's this as a foot in the door to go other (better) places. We'll see I guess. They told her on the interview that it is really rough and needs to travel in groups.

I was with Dyncorp so I was over in the WRM buildings across from the runway. Was awesome watching b1 bombers taking off at 5am, the blue flame was longer than the plane!

I always felt sorry for you guys stuck on base. In town we got treated like anyone else, no one showed agression to us.. Most were pretty nice come to think about it! Never could get used to the men holding hands thing. creepy.

Yeah, its like that. I was lucky enough to have my own guards though. cool as fuck driviing around in a blacked out surburban with bulletproof glass and doors! They were like "yeah if anyone gets in our way we just run over their car or shoot them." .... I was like...PIMP.

Nope I wouldn't, but then again we may be in different situations.
Only 4 months though, so it's not bad. The down side is I don't think that is long enough to be tax free.

Im kind of surprised their doing medical contracting, usually the MEDCOM people do that. But I can also see that they want the numbers of actual soldiers not doing it, it looks good for the administration that we're "pulling out"....what bs...lol

Nope, but at 4 months she's not gonna top 80k so it would be tax free. However if it is only a 4 month contract then its not worth going. Especially if shes gonna be out iin the shit.
BTW, I should know, ive been there as a contractor myself.....and 115k a year isn't worth it....most start at $180.....I was getting $245k

A good place to start looking would be on dice.com....just do searchs for "oconus"....you'll find plenty all over the place. In places you didn't even know we had bases...or "camps"...
