Still, you know you'd cry if your shit got lit on fire. Working hard on your shit and it goes up in flames. Insurance or not, it's not a funny thing.

i think we would all be upset......but i wouldnt be blaming RE for it. I know i deal with a lot of power and when my subs start warming up i can tell right away and therefore back off some. When you are KNOWINGLY OVERPOWERING SUBS that is how you keep them in one piece. For you to get the sub THAT HOT, probably glowing, and not know it - your really not that smart sorry. At least you didnt act that smart that moment anyway. Accidents happen, amps burn, subs blow.......but for a sub to ignite is no accident - something that can be prevented. Theres no way a sub catches on fire at normal levels within its operating range. Im sorry this happened to you, i really am.....but i gotta say it had to be your own fault. Live and learn but dont blame RE.

So, it has nothing to do with the fact that you overdrove a speaker for an extended period of time, causing the vc temp to rise to the point of ignition?
RE Audio did not install your Subwoofer, nor did any of its dealers, this is the reason you pay a professional to do your work.

As far as flammability, as far as I know, most "PAPER" products are flammable.

Did I run 4kw to an 06 xxx daily for a week?? YES I did. Under a careful watchfull eye and ear. Did i play the thing for an hour straight ?? NO

Please dont try to bring me into your inexperienced installs, Thanks.

My opinion is that you popped a coil, didnt know it.. fried a tinsel lead... let them just arc together... spark..spark..spark...spark.. then just kept on rockin' until you noticed a flame. Sorry..

Hope insurance covers you.
please don't be so on-point with posts' please, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif others won't know what's going on

...strangely its pretty funny everyone hearing about it not believing it...I wanted to think the same, but its true the only thing salvagable on my truck is the bed of truck...so im sure you all are wondering what the **** happened...so let me explain..
I was heading to work bumping like I normally do and have been doing for awhile, but I noticed a burning(not a metal coil burning, but like paper) so my first instinct is its the sub so sure enough its the spider thats burning(no flames mostly contained burning) so I pull off call Tuan who I bought it from ask what I should do(stupid I know but it was my first response) he told me to take it out and let it burn out or put it out. So after that I called my mom to let her know I was heading back home and to get a screwdriver ready because I was going to pull it out...but as I was driving home the fire began to build and started to flame outside the sub, I pulled off...disconnected the wires from the sub and poured water onto the sub, nothing happened the fire just began to build and caught the carpet of my sub box on fire and then my seats...and then from there, there was no saving it...I ended up with this:

Liability insurance FTL! I dont know what do from here...it was warranted bought authorized but I have no idea what to do...what do ya'll think...alright im gonna go back to crying now. Peace
Okay, so im not gonna read the entire thread, but why didnt you just take the box out and let it burn?

u have to notify the insurannce company of what you have in the car whenever you pay for coverage.

i know but if u think just regular full coverage covers it .. ur mistaken.. i called and asked if i had it on my policey and they said i would be ok and all my shit got stolen so i call up to report a claim and say i dont have acces. insurance.. i said i called when i added insurance to the vehicle and they said i had it...... all in all they ment if i ever had a CD player installed and stolen.. it would be covered.. not they other $3000 worth of stuff
