amen. the farms around here, including a few that my family members own got killed this year with the lack of water. hell, the price per bail of hay is i think over three times the amount it is normally.

My buddy here owns a lot of land. He has a couple combines that are about $200,000. They sell dairy cows for a profit to make some of their money. Buy em young for $70, raise them and sell them for over $700.

Around here you would definitely fit in. The local fair is actually called the plowing match. A bunch of farmers take all their antique tractors and basically see who can plow the straightest line with a single plow.

honestly though, the only reason farms in America can compete with imports on a price basis is because of tariffs and subsidies... we don't have a comparative advantage in that field...
