My system "Stinks"

Sorry, I'll have to get back to this tomorrow, it's our anniversary and my wife is telling me we have to leave //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
The Sub gain is at 3 o'clock and the front and rear are closer to 2 O'clock, not sure what if any method the shop used to set it.
The gain is almost at full tilt. Your clipping your sub.

I got out the dmm today and metered the front and rear channels at the volume level I was getting the smell at. Using a 1khz signal I was seeing a little over 29v on both. 40hz on the sub channel was well under the 38.7v JL suggests for a 3ohm load.

Pretty sure the smell was coming from the door speakers. The amp is running very cool.

I'm not comfortable at all taking it back to the installers again, and I'm sure I know just enought to screw it up. Can anyone suggest someone within 50mi of Dayton Oh. with the knowledge and tools to set my system up properly?

Set your gains with a 50Hz 0db test tone. Here is the math:

Voltage = sqrt(rms x impedence)

Voltage = sqrt(500x3ohm)

Voltage = sqrt(1500)

Voltage = 38.7v is what your amp should read. Make sure you set the HU bass boost to 0, amp bass boost to 0. Then turn it up as loud as you listen to it, tune the amp and get as close to 38.7 on the sub out as you can.
