i know nothing about tuning. but apparently i need a new sub because it's being overpowered
^^^^^this.... not everyone wants or has the money to buy sundownKid, get off the fucking bandwagon. Let the man run what he wants to run.
if you dont want to buy a new sub, just simply turn the amp down a little biti know nothing about tuning. but apparently i need a new sub because it's being overpowered
you should be in a 4ohm load with the one sub, so yes, just turn GAIN down to 12 oclock position, or start at 10 oclock position, and should be just fine. make sure the bass boost on the amp is down also,it doesnt have to be at 0 but i wouldnt put it more than 9oclock position also.your amp is 4/2ohms stable mono/bridged, so no issue there with ohms load.if you want to get most out of your amp,you want to get back to a 2ohm load bridged/mono,you can do that with a pair of subs as you had, one single dvc 4 ohm sub,4 dvc 4ohm subs,1 dvc 1ohm sub,2-svc 4ohm subs, several ways to get back to your 2ohm stable amp power to get most out of your amp, and what space you are willing to give up as welli'll turn it down a bit...just one of the settings on the amp itself? but is the only real fix would be ot get a 4ohm sub?
run what you got, just turn it down...all you have to do, and save to get another sub to get back to where you were, just have to realize that one sub that you have isnt going to be as impressive as a pair, nor handle the same power is alli know nothing about tuning. but apparently i need a new sub because it's being overpowered
So you pretty much have no idea how a subwoofer cools itself is what you're saying.i also went on to explain how the box could affect the coil when ported. my guess the box is too small and tuned relatively high causing him to over drive the sub to catch the low notes, even if the box was to big if its tuned to high and the sub is trying to catch the low notes he may be overdriving the sub to catch the low notes. both can be fixed by turning down the gain

In reality on lower notes, in any size box, the woofer is moving more and pushing more air past the coil (more cooling). The more strenuous test thermally is generally up around 60hz. In either case, size of the box has little bearing on how much power/heat a coil will hold before starting to burn.
kid? lol.. k 17 year old...Kid, get off the fucking bandwagon. Let the man run what he wants to run.
