My subs pop

I have 2 alpine type R 1242d 12'' In a Ported box 3 cubic feet if i remember tuned to 30hz. The subs are powered by a hifonix bx1605d The subs are loud. But on my panasonic headunit i can't turn the subs up past 18 or it starts poping it sounds like you just slap the cone down real hard. Its a nasty sound and is starting to piss me off when i turn it up. The subs don't pop when the trunk is open. But when its closed it's all i hear. Is it just my subs or is it all alpines. Should i sell these and buy some new subs?

found an answer i think..... ill try turning hte gains down.

my kicker 06L5s do the same thing when it hits really hard, havent really figured out the problem yet.. ive done some searching and some people say it could be your subsonic filter or your gains..

but it sounds to me like your subs are bottoming out..

subsonic filter is all the way to the lowesti think what should i tune it to. Bottoming out as in the bottom hitting the box? If so then that can't be it because theres tons of room left in the box.

lol sorry didnt know that. The bass is clear though and doesnt sound distorted at all. It's really annoying

yeah happens to me sometimes if i turn the remote gain up too high

Chances are the gain is to high, Mine did that for a while untill I made time to set the gains correctly.

Maybe your back panel is hitting your back window, causing this sound?

Play your music, and hold down your back panel and see what happens.

Anyways, have you checked to see if your subs are hitting the back of your trunk then?

well i know its a big problem lol. Hitting the back of hte trunk? No that cant be it i have the box secured back its somthing wiht the subs maybe theyre excusing(word?) too far
