my sub smells horrible

i just got a 600w american pro bass edition amp and a 600w hifonics sub. after i got it hooked up i drove around for a bit listening to it and i started to smell this really horrible type of burning smell. i opened my trunk and smelled around the sub and it smelled terrible. does anyone know what i can do to stop the odor? or what the problem is?

Try turning the gain down to start

ill try that tomorrow, and the bass boost switch is on too should i turn that off?

basically... you can't play it as loud as you have been or POOF... you'll see the Magic White Smoke

a lot of people will tell you to NOT use bass boost UNLESS you know what you're doing, and don't crank the "Bass" option on your Head Unit either

I never use bass boost. But that is just my preference.

i didnt mess with anything on the head unit, ill probably half to adjust the gain and turn the bass boost switch off

but i mean it wasnt just like a little kinda funky smell, it smelled teeerrriibbllleee and im just worried and dont want to blow the sub when ive only had it for a day
