My Sub Doesnt Play

i dont know how a brand new amp could be the problem though....
It could have easily been internally damaged during shipment to you, I know about that all too well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The only thing you can do to isolate the problem is swap out amps. If you have the same problem, then move to your source unit. Your preouts could have gone bad, RCA's could be grounding out somewhere, etc...

If possible, try a portable cd player or DVD player or whatever, and get a headphone to RCA cable so you can hook up a partable device to the amps inputs. Put a CD in, see if you have output. If not then that eliminates the source as a problem.

ok ive done a little thinking, a spark came from the amp when i connected the wires to the amp when the car was off though, but this means the wires are fine because their wouldnt be a spark if there wasnt any power going through them. and the sub is fine, so that leaves me with the connection from my head unit, and the amplifier itself. What do you guys think?

You should disconnect the negaitve battery terminal before you do anything with wires... then that spark wouldnt happen.

I told you what to do in the above post, bro. There isnt much else to try, other than take it to someone that knows what their doing:blackeye:

uhhh hmmm should the cd player have no batteries in it?
what are you talking about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

also, you'll want to have the car turned on and remote turn on sending a signal to the amp (to get the amp to turn on)

hooking up a external CD player to the RCA inputs of the amp. (ie. batteries for the external CD player).

yeah, i know, i was one of the people who suggested it.

i just thought it was kind of a dumb question asking whether or not he needed batteries in the portable cd player. how is it supposed to work without batteries?
