My setup come see.

Lulz. Giving advice on what he needs then recommending MB Quart junk components. Priceless. Please show me a quality 8" sub that takes 1000wrms daily?
Yes he needs a beginner setup...not $300 components rofl, anyway the sound difference between $300 components and $50 components to a high school freshmen is negligible.

Could be trolling us all with this thread....also could be legit and honestly confused.
Some gave good infor and as usual, you get the same morons posting BS in a noobs thread.

That is one thing that has never changed on this site, lol!
He shows all the proper characteristics of an innocent high school kid that wants his first system. I don't think he's confused so much as he needs to study this stuff in-depth until he's confident enough to really make a purchase. If you aren't super educated you will usually be taken advantage of, for example, he was obviously told to buy a number of batteries with no mention of a big 3 or an alternator, I wonder what sales rep told him that lol.

I think the kid has promise! He needs to start small and tweak **** like it's an actual hobby not an impulsive attention getting thing...Booming up and down the high school parking lot for $2,000 will lose it's thrill real quick.

I run two batteries with no upgraded alty......OMG, I am a noob! lol!

Night and day difference than when I ran the one. I do have the big3 done in 0g wire though. Shewww......

I recommend The Big 3 in a PM I sent him an hour ago

This isn't Christmas, stop acting so excited about A SYSTEM A SYSTEM OMFG !!! !@I HAVE A BIG F-150 MY DAD BOUGHT ME AND I NEED RIMS! AND A SYSTEM!!! AND BLAH BLAH Blahh...Mistake...One huge mistake..

I'll do something for you no one did for me, TAKE A DEEP BREATH! I could start a million dollar company with a $2,000 investment, and you are talking about blowing it (money you don't even have yet mind you) on a boom boom system to show off in the parking lot, that is *** backwards. You need to step back and start slow with an 8" sub, get you a little rumble under the seats, some nice sounds and go from there...You aren't sound deadening anything, you aren't getting into any alternators batteries line drivers oscilloscopes welding buss bars and the list goes on forever..

A serious system takes years to compile for the average guy, it's a slow methodical process buying a sub or re-cone or some toy with every paycheck. Coming in here as a high school kid with no money, you didn't buy that truck and don't have a clue what it takes to purchase a truck at all, and instead of learning how to change your brakes or compiling a nice tool set, you are worried about impulsively spending 2k you don't have any prospects of acquiring on some boom boom system you have spend a week researching...How ridiculous man. Just take a deep breath and DO MORE RESEARCH. You say you've studied audio and researched audio...You haven't.

You need a 8" sub...build it a box and tweak it..$200 i.e. 1 of your McDonald's paychecks and you will have some bang in the truck...You don't need, nor do you know what to do with 1500 watts and 2 12's in that truck...

I am coming straight from the heart here talking to you like I talk to my young nephews and you should respect this as advice and constructive criticism from someone who's been there...If you don't heed my advice and spend $2000 on speakers and amps and don't spend another $2000 on the other required gear to properly run the initial gear...YOU WILL REGRET IT...I've been there trust me.

I'm not in the mood to type up some battery / charging system seminar right now. High output Alts come before multiple batteries. Car's electrical equipment draws power from the alternator not the batteries. When the alternator's output is maxed, then and only then do the batteries come into play, aside from the initial starting of the car of course.

I dont get it. Why do you need to start out with a "beginner setup" when its your first system? Why would he need to start out with 8" subs before working his way up to 10's or 12's? We aren't recommending a beginner steroid cycle, pain killers or a handgun... Are 10" subs going to be so much for him that its going to distract him from driving?

Isnt that one reason why this site is here in the first place? So people dont go out and buy Sony Xplods? Yes, I understand that he isnt going out and getting Sony Xplods, but if this site wasnt here, or others like it, then thats probably what he would be doing. Hence, him liking the recent forum boner, Sundown. I joined this message board right around the time he is joining. I read, read, and read some more, all before I had a drivers license. If it wasnt for the site, I would have had a Walmart stereo.

His biggest hurtle with his stereo is air space. There is limited room in an extended cab '99 F-150. I recommended a great pair of 10's, yet cheaper, that will fit and meet the airspace requirements. Also recommended the Big 3, ditch the batteries, sound deaden the doors, check the classified section, and run 1/0 awg wire. All right at $1000

Uh because he's a beginner. He has no clue what he's doing. That's why he needs a beginner setup. If he is just going to have someone else install this stuff for him then he doesn't need to know anything except where the volume knob is and where he's going to get the money to repair his blown amp/subs/alt/dead batteries.

A beginner setup has nothing to do with shotty, cheap mass produced brands. It's more about a small easy to manage, easy to install, affordable, low wattage, low voltage setup. That's what I consider a beginner setup.

Who are you?

While I share some of your thoughts, what high school kid have you ever met that goes.. "No, I cant buy a stereo for my truck yet. I have to learn how to change brakes, rotate my tires, change my oil, and change out a headlight bulb first. Then Ill be ready for something that has no relation to a car stereo."

So what if he didnt buy the truck? Its an 13 year old truck. Who cares. Are you his dad or something? My first vehicle was a '94 S-10 in 2003. Did I buy it? No. It came from my dad's social security check that came in for years after he died. My point? Who cares how he acquired his first vehicle. Its not like its a Corvette or anything. Give him a break. You're just pissed that he may not of had the hard life that you had. Sorry your life was sooo rough.

All I read in your post is you slamming the kid. Saying he works at McDonald's. Although that is not a slam in some people's mind, it definitely wasnt a compliment by you

So needs to "learn" on a setup that is of a lower grade of the totem pole? He cant learn on something that can get loud and sound good doing it? If thats the case, my first motorcycle was "noob" decision. I shouldnt have purchased a 1300cc fuel injected cruiser. See what I did there? I compared apples to oranges. One has very little repercussion and the other has a life or death repercussion.

Just trying to help him take a step back, put things into perspective and snap him out of the instant gratification mind set that teenagers often find themselves in. I was the same was, when I got the bright idea to buy something I bought it, and it got old before I could spit. I want to help him not make the same mistakes I did. Maybe he will contemplate, and think long and hard about his real priorities now, and at the end of the day, if he still wants to go with a elaborate system, he will put in work studying, researching, and becoming obsessed with audio like all of us ^^

But whatever he chooses to do I'm assured life will go on, and he will be happy with any bass, who doesn't love bass ^^
