My Sable Install Log *PICS*

Well I was thinkin' that if you're getting a SX 15, you might want a double baffle instead of just a single baffle. I did a double baffle for my Xtant, just to be safe. Always better to be safe than sorry...

no need for a double baffle...i have a single baffle for my SX 15 and its fine...3.6 cubes @ 35 hz after displacements
i agree,

it looks like his using 3/4" board or thicker. i would brace 3/4" mdf walls, but that's just me.

if he was using 1/2" or lower then maybe double baffle, even with 1/2" mdf, if the walls are close in distance to the cut out of the subwoofer opening, i still wont double baffle the front sub wall, if the wall are more than 10" on each side, ill double baffle with another 1/2" board, if you use 1/2" for a sub enclosure walls, i would brace the wall very well. it all depend on the size of the box, the woofer size and power. i think.

Lol, I think double baffle is a good idea no matter what. You have more wood to screw your subs into, and your subs are locked down to a thicker surface. What are the disadvantages of that?? I have a huge box for 2 ten inch subs (2 separate chambers at 2.18 cubic feet each,internally:up2somet: ) and my baffle board is 1 1/2 inches thick. It sucked to cut thru that with a jigsaw:D

for those with the 88, 92 taurus's and the 93 Merc...you might think about Horns. I had USD Waveguides in my 92 taurus and they sounded incredible. Very high stage and even more width. Plus they fit in perfect. Just a thought. I would still have my old car if my ex's new bf at the time didn't steal my car. He is in jail now, and my car went to hell in a handbasket. Burned at the stake. sigh

oh well, that is my .03 cents. yea i know, it is supposed to be two cents, but with gas prices, i have to offset my money.

***UPDATE***

Lol, I almost forgot about this thread, but here is an update to my system. All I have left to do is get an orion 1200d and put it in there and make amp racks and false floor and stuff, and I also need to get a new HU (buddy of mine is selling his Alpine CDA-9835, yay!).

First off, the new ologyaudio component set:

Deadened and Sealed Door

Left Door

This is a great component set, best I've ever heard home or car, here's a link to the review (the updates on the bottom of page 2) http://forums.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=120822.

Here's some pics of my SX 15:

Sub's movin in that pic, not much I know, but the song didn't have alot of bass. I have a video of it but it kind of sux. I think I will make a video of it with Young Jeezy - Thug Motivation 101 playing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif, such a ridiculously huge amount of bass in that song, even with only 600 watts on the SX it is uncomfortable to listen to the amount of bass this sub puts out, definitely going to be amazing with 1200 watts.

Well, that's all for now.

No thanks man... Rims on a 93 sable, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif.

no offnese intended

i put a cd player in my moms 95 sable, and when i got it all installed i ripped out that **** cupholder, you should have seen the mess she made of the stock radio, cans of soda spilling on it. i told her none of that so i ripped it out and handed it to her and said no more problems with a messy HU. dont you love the placement of the stock drivers in that door? half covered by the dash and all?

anyways looks like it is coming along good.

Lol for the cupholder, I never used that I just bought one of those plastic center console things. And ya, the stock location for the speakers is kind of crappy, but it really doesnt seem to detract from the sound.

^X2, the speaker locations seem like the worst you could think of, but the imaging itself is pretty decent. If you could carve out the panel and add a grill it might make some difference. I ended up doing kicks in my 92 Taurus, they're in front of the ebrake's location. It eats up footspace and looks horrible. =p
