My research has come to an end.

a whole new type of aids
I've been asking questions about amps, subs and comps on several forums for the last couple of months, because I'm planning my biggest build to date and I wanted to use some equipment that I have no experience with. My research has finally come to an end, and I'm pretty confident that I've made good choices. I ultimately decided to go with several brands that I've had great experience with, but I'm going to give Image Dynamics a try for the first time.

The vehicle is a 2007 Quad-Cab Dodge Dakota 4x4 with the 4.7 V8. Subs will be walled. Each of the front doors will house 2 tweets and 2 mids. Kick panels will house 1 tweet and 1 mid per side. The a-pillars will also house 1 tweet and 1 mid per side. Being that the wall will totally consume the rear of the vehicle, I feel that no rear fill is necessary. The audio build will start in early 2010, and it will be followed by custom paint, 20" wheels, Baer brakes and various performance upgrades (shaker hood and/or supercharger, dual exhaust, etc). I've decided that I want a show truck, and the Dakota is in fantastic condition. It's also paid for, so that's a plus. I've never seen a tricked out Dakota 4x4 in this area, so it should be a pretty nice project.

So, here's the list of equipment that I've chosen:

Head Unit: Alpine IVA-D106

Comps: 4x Image Dynamics CXS64 V.2 (4 ohm model)

Subwoofers: 2x RE Audio XXX 18"

4 Channel Amps: 2x Rockford Fosgate T1000-4

Mono Amps: 2x Rockford Fosgate T2500-1BD

I could use some help as far as alts, batts and install hardware is concerned. Would 4 Kinetik HC2000's suffice? Will 1 HO alt do the trick, or will I need 2? Who makes the best 1/0 gauge wire, dist blocks, anl's, terminals, etc? I've never done a build with equipment this expensive, and I want the electrical and install hardware to be high quality stuff.

Thanks for reading...

I gotta ask.. if you're going as far as walling off your truck... why are you goin with the XXX's?

wall=trying to get loud (for 99% of people).. thats why im curious as to why the xxx's?

also why'd you choose those amps?

sundown 3000D would be a good choice for an amp. Would save you some money too. Power wise I couldn't offer much help. ohio gen or mechman 250+amp alt and some deka 9a31 for batts. I'm guessing 4 batteries would be enough.

Excellent choice of equipment. If you've got the money, I'd go with dual alts for sure. 4 batts should be fine as well. I would run RF and RE before Sundown, personally. XXX's will sound a million times better than the Nightshades.

From what I hear, RE's public listed air-space recommendation for the XXX subs are WAY too small. I want to have the setup ported, so they're going to need some space. Besides, the truck's interior is small. If I want 2 18"s, I might as well wall them up, because I'm losing the rear seats either way. Even if it isn't a "true" wall, it's going to be big. Might as well build the amp rack in too.

I chose the amps because I've had good experience with RF in the past, and I like the looks of the new Power Series. I'm building a show truck, man. Cosmetic appearance is important.

Going for looks too, man. The Sundown amps aren't as good looking as the RFs in my opinion.

well i was thinking saz-3500Dfor sub amp and a pair of nightshades the 4 channel amps well depends on the power you desire..
I know that Sundown is quality stuff, but I don't think their equipment looks all that great. If I was interested in competing, Sundown equipment would be on the top of my list. But in a show vehicle, not so much.

Besides, I'm not interested in hitting ridiculous DBs or even having the vehicle metered once the build is done. I just want something that looks beautiful and sounds loud as well as clean. In my opinion the XXX's are the best looking subs on the planet, and the new Power Series amps are sexy too...

Thanks man. Like I said, I have nothing against Sundown. I recommend their equipment to my friends all the time.

I just want something that'll get a few ooh's and ahh's and sound clean. The pretty amps and the woofer **** that is the RE Audio XXX 18" should suffice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
