Does anyone else think 50^2 inches of port on the low side for a sub with that much excursion capability? I prolly missed it but what will be powering it?

15"s are 3 weeks - a month. I dunno about the 18"s.

I talked to a guy at RE last week (first call of the day and two rings...I wasnt even prepared when he answered the phone) and he said that it will be about two months on the 18's

it gives me time to save for one and an amp for it.

A Powerbass xa300d will be powering it (3000 X 1 @ 1 ohm). The calculations just worked out like that. I think the guys at SS used a 60 sq. in. port:crap:

UPDATE TIME!!!

Got this mother-effer installed...

All wired up and ready to go....I only used 12 awg, when I build the new box, I will use 8 awg.

You can see how much beefier this is in general when compared to the old XXX....

It's a lot wider too, look at the top and bottom of the woofer and compare the two

yeah the cone area is pretty small. You'd be surprised though, in my initial listening impression, this absolutely slaughters the old XXX. Even in a small enclosure (2.5 cu ft @ 32 Hz), this guy is really loud and, like previously stated, slaughters the lows. I put in a CD with double bass kicks and it kept up with them nicely. SQ is on par or exceeds that of the old XXX, I need more time to listen.
