My PS2 isn't working - help wanted

my 4 year old nephew stepped on top of my ps2 and since then it says " there is no data " or " the disc could not be read " any ideas?

Probably the laser. Easy to replace, but There's really no way to completely make sure. The replacment laser is like $20-35.
