My plans... need some input

Would you rather own 4 12" Kicker L7s running off 3000 watts in 2 doubleshots, or would you rather own 2 MTX 9512s running off 3000 watts in a doubleshot. This will be going into my ford explorer. The cost to switch to L7s would be 400 with the alternator upgrade, and the cost to upgrade to another 9500 would be just about 1000 with an upgraded alternator. I think the L7s would be louder, but the 9500s would have more SQ and take up wayy less space. Let me know what you guys would rather "show off"

I think the l7s personally sound better in the sq department... The 9500s are basicly like a giant midbass, and lack on the low end compared to some other woofers ive came across, but thats just my opinion. Anyways 4 12s setup right should easily top the 9500s. Even if you mentioned 2 9500s vs 2 l7s, then ide still choose the kickers. Anyways both setup properly will do some damage.. Both good subs...

Well they weren't running their 9500s in a box from john nolte, trust me, the 9500 is absolutely sickening in the lower band(34-42hz). But I just think with all the cone area from 4 12s, they should get insanely loud, I want to aim to hit over 150dB

Ive heard the 9500s tuned low, and i didnt say they couldnt decently extend, but they just lacked to some others ive tested, but that doenst matter since your out for spl anyways //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Anywho if your wanting to aim for 150, then 4 12s for sure...

Will an alternator of 120 amps idle and 220 max supply the 3000 watts this will require? I don't want my electrical system dying.

xploit wuts up man, im friends with andy and josh, my names bryan. 2 9512s in a doubleshot with 3k will hit over 150, especially in your truck, no doubt. 2 L7 doubleshots would obviously be louder, but take up more space and have less sq. 120 amp alt on 3k watts would work, just make sure you have at least 2-3 yellow tops

Where do i even start... Hmm pg titanium elite, infinity kappa perfects, pg xenons, mmats procasts, jbl gtis, jl w7s/w6. The list could go on for quite a while..

so what are you lookign for SQ, SPL, sql...If you want sq both those subs sux, sql much better out kinda liek towncar mentioned above, and for spl both are respected.

The L7's are tremendous subs with lots of capabilities especially getting loud. I'm doing huge numbers in DBDRAG street A right now with L7's. The sound quality department of the L7 will rely heavily in the box.
