My Pioneer Gear

Whats up everybody...I figured for a first post id show what i have. I know pioneer isnt on the top of the list for most on these boards but for now it'll do. If i do upgrade, it will be the sub. I just got this one so im good for now. IT is the TS-1008d2 premier champion series woofer. IT has 350wrms. THe amp is the pioneer gm-7400m mono d block amp. It provides me with 200wrms at 4 ohms. I dont have a picture yet but i am running the pioneer DEH-510ub premier model. eventually i may put 2 of the subs up to the amp which would give 400wrms to the 2 of them or do somethin else...idk. The only problem i really have right now is the box that i am using. I didnt really know what i was doing when i purchased it and its 1.65 cubic ft is much too large for it. I eventually put closed cell foam blocks in the box to fill the space and right now from my calculations it is at about 1.10. From some calculations i did on WinISD that said to drill a 3 inch port that is about 8 inches in length. I think this would be my best option besides building a custom box. Any input would be great reguarding whether or not this would be a good idea. ITs a prefab box so it really is not that great but i am on a budget for now. I need to figure out how to do pics really quick and ill get some up i didnt know mine were too big.

Here we go. My favorite part is how small the pioneer amp is for being 800w max 400wrms

not bad, ya gotta start somewhere. i started 18 years ago, used a bunch of diff crap. i like the pioneer just fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

this box definitely sucks and i feel you on that. Some of the carpeting is comeing off and i can see how imperfect the joints are in such. Definitely made without care. I guess as a general question with a 10 inch sub would building a ported box make a a lot of difference in the loudness i get. I like the way a sub hits when sealed but i feel like there is more potential. I mean altogether any box made more specifically for my gear would make it sound a lot better. Still not bad though. Just have some trouble on punk drumming and quick hitting bass.

Those pioneers love ported boxes. I would do it.

There's nothing wrong with drilling a hole and installing a port. Your box is too large anyway. With the right port, you could get a pretty good sounding box. Just make sure to account for the displacement the port and the sub will take up to achieve your final tuning.

Get some PVC pipe and call it a day. Seems like this is temporary anyway. A 3" round port will suffice for that sub. Step it up to 4" if the depth allows it.

cool. Thanks for the input. it def is a temporary box so i wouldnt mind experimenting. I definitely plan on buliding my own box down the road. Good to hear that a ported box should help.

thanks

I honestly don't like the pioneers :/

I like their head units, and I LOVE their lower lines of coaxials. They sound great for the prices. For people just swapping factory speakers, my recommended choice.

But never much liked the rest :/
