Current System:

Headunity: Kenwood Ez-500

Amp: Kenwood Excelon KAC-X621

Subs: 2 12' Typhoons in a sealed enclosure.

I am looking to upgrade on the subs but was wondering just how good my amp really is here are the specs.

Max. Power at 4 ohms: 1200W

Rated Power (14.4V): 150W

2 at 4 ohms, 300W x 2 at 2 ohms, 600W x 1 at 4 ohms (Bridged)

AMP Control System: Built in Parametric EQ Control, AMP Information Display

Built-in Variable Low/High-pass Filter

Built-in Infrasonic Filter

Gold Plated Input/Output Terminals

Line Output

2-Speed Cooling Fan

Detachable Aluminium Dress Plate

Now my question is I am looking at either a JL AUdio 12w7 or 13w7 but will my amp do these subs justice? Should i go for a better sub then the JL W7's.. any sub suggestions. What range of subs can i push with this amp. I am looking for my SPL but SQL is important too.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Well the 12w7 is 750 WATTS RMS, 1500 WATTS MAX... What should I really be pushing my amp at.. I mean I dont want to blow 500 dollars on a killer sub only to find out im going to have to buy a new 500 dolllar amp to push it.

Any other recommendations on subs?

How about the new Alpine Type R's.. these Kenwood Typhoons ****!

I would say 12w7 if i was going to go with either of the subs. My question is this though. THe 15' Alpine Type-R's and the 12w7 RMS wattage is the same(500W).

But I could get the 15' Alpine at half the price. Is it worth it going with the Alpine Type-R's.. what are the pro's and con's.. T

BTW.

hanks a lot guys you guys are a ton of help.

_________EDIT_________

From what I'm reading the 15' Alpine RMS is 750 and Max's at 2000...

Im starting to wonder if this isn't where i should lean towards.

Going to bed for the night.. thanks a lot though..

Anyone pumping a 15' Alpine type-R around 1000 Watts... Also would it be too much to push my Kenwood Kac-x621 at 1000 Watts (Max. Power at 4 ohms: 1200W

Rated Power (14.4V): 150W

2 at 4 ohms, 300W x 2 at 2 ohms, 600W x 1 at 4 ohms (Bridged))

AHH THE Choices!!!

w7 is amazing if you have the money but the price for just one of the subs could buy you a good amp sub and wiring for it.

example: 1200D around 300 and an SX around 200 used 260 new to my door and amp kits around 30-50 for basic 4 gauge.

but if you got the money i would say do it and you wont be dissappointed at all. my friends 8w7 kills alot of decent 12" setups in my town.

I think a W7 is an all around pleasing sub to everyone who has ever heard one. Then again thats only my opinion. I haven't met anyone who hasn't enjoyed the sound of a W7 but have met tons of people who don't enjoy the price. I myself was thinking of doing two w7's but I really like the w6's and will be running those this summer.

^^^^ chek out those links...ive had some RE SE's and they pounded good..just getting rid of my incriminator audio lethal injection now but that thing got crazy loud and sounded reallly good....plus the prices on those will make u able to buy 2 3 or 4 before you reach the price of one w7
