I was just curious, is everyone here who has a RE XXX running a high output alt? The rms on those thing are 1600 watts so I know your DIMMING!!!

My 9.1 puts around 1300-1400 rms and I still have no dimming at all.

I also have a 94 Ford Explorer stock everything

the nine.1s are terribly efficient, i had a avionixx 800.4 (almost the same amp), it was awesome, very little dimming with 1100wrms.

its the tripath circuitry

I'm running a BX1500D (~1350 RMS) with my XXX and I don't have any dimming with my stock 120 amp alt. Although my distro block says 14-14.1 volts at idle, and with the rpms revving. But when I am bumping it goes down to 13.6-13.7. Is that bad or normal?

I'm running 1.7kW with absolutely no dimming.

Stock 135A alt (14.8vdc @ idle), only part of the electrical system I upgraded was the battery ground; it's now 2awg.

I have a I pushing around 700-800 watts to 2 jl 10w6s and i'm dimming. I have a Ford F250 SuperDuty. You guys are LUCKY! So amps have a lot to do with dimming? Different amps won't dim at same wattage?

Yes, partially. Dimming is based on your current draw - some amps that are more efficient (like Class D, T, or X) will draw less current for a given power. Some, like Class A/B, will pull more current for the same amount of power.

I am currently running ~900 rms on my stock 105a alt, I only have minimal dimming at idle. Never drops below 13.8v Idle is 14.4-14.8v

I'm running an Elemental Designs NiNe.2 bridged (400w RMS) and I'm dimming pretty good in a 2004 Saturn Vue. I think it's dimming mainly because I used to be an idiot and sit places with my car off and stereo on for 20-30 mins at a time so I pretty much killed my battery.

1400+ on my stock alt nothing. No dimming at all.

Buddys expo running around 1400+ dims when the bass hits heavy. He has the 5.4L engine so it is quite a beefy engine for such a small stock alt.

im powering my xxx15 with about 1300-1400watts, powering each infinity 6.5 mid with 60watts; electricaly everything was stock. had the big 3 and thats it. never had any dimming. this is all in a 98 accord with stock battery and 80-90amp alternator....go figure...now i have a red-top under the hood and a 170amp alternator incase i want to upgrade...but when everything was stock i never had anything close to dimming running that much power.

Hmmm I go to the drive in and leave the radio on for 3 hours and nothing. Car starts like a champ. I have a redtop.

Same expo with a yellow top dead after 2 hours???
