when will you begin the test?
testing begins next week. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if all goes to plan..

I am going to do around 4500w to each sub.

in a recomended enclosure.

it will involve burps from 30 to 50hz at 5 hz increments. and then 30 seconds of music.

it will be done in my truck. with my electrical, and all subs are d2's.

any thoughts or suggestions lemme know.

This will be measured by a TL. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hopefully it all pulls together. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Im not going to try to rain on your parade, but you need to be aware of some things. I dont know whom you talked to at what company exactly, but what they're suggesting to you what will be "ok" as far as box size and tuning is not quite up to par.

First off, beware of the dual spider... it WILL rip to shreds around the tinsel leads at some point or another, especially with a low tuning of 30 hz. I would buy some CA glue from bob smith industries or loctite to keep on hand so when the tinsel leads start to stretch off the spider you can dab a bit on here and there to keep it together longer. I hate to say it but ive seen what happened in those pics above on about 10 or so drivers now.

Second, beware of the backplate tattoo. If you ever over put the driver into over excursion the coil will slam into the back plate which will transfer the energy in reverse to the center of the cone which will either give the cone a tattoo the size of the voice coil, deform the former, or outright lock up the coil.

One thing that is true, the coil will take around 10kw of straight power. The downside to this is that the mechanics of the driver in general just cant take the force. IMO all about it can take is around 4k.

good luck.

BTW 80...

looking at how some people have ran these subs i was thinking 4500w would be ok for now.

just because i have see that guy with 2 of the lms-5400's with a kicker 2500.1 to each.

he was plenty loud like that.

I figure i have more box, doubethe power, half the cone area.

Charlie

Your not raining on my parade. I spoke to Thilo about tuning.

this is supposed to be a pretty big improvement over the lms-5400. new coils other parts.

I would hope that 30 hz doesn't do that.

Especially if it is recommended by them.

Second, beware of the backplate tattoo. If you ever over put the driver into over excursion the coil will slam into the back plate which will transfer the energy in reverse to the center of the cone which will either give the cone a tattoo the size of the voice coil, deform the former, or outright lock up the coil.

Thanks for the input.

We will see how it does.

That is the reason why I am trying it out.

You've also had problems with DD when I have never had problems with DD.

I mean, its no JL W7, but its alright.
LOL thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
