my lights dim a little bit

From all I've been reading here that would be the first step!

The after that maybe a cap, deep cycle battery or high output alternator.

Try the big 3 first. Wire is cheaper than all the rest!

for 300w to be doing anything noticable to the headlights I would have to think there's an issue with the installation.

What's it in (yr/make/model)?

How old is the battery?

What size power/ground wires? How long?

What size fuse in the wire?

Did that just happening or was it doing it all along? If it just started chances are it's your battery. My lights just started dimming as well and I'm sure it's my battery. I'll be doing the big three when it warms up a bit but will be replacing the battery sooner. Based on what I've read and was told by friends, caps are not the answer.
