My IDQ10 is very disappointing

4 of them would meet all my spl needs.

2 wouldn't

I love the sound of the drivers, but they just don't get loud enough.

Such as life in the audio world. Where the audio gods giveth, they also taketh away.

It's pretty hard to have any non-linearity when you don't have much excursion potential. Pair that with good motor design and you have a nice woofer.

Yes, but the IDQ has more going for it than just low excursion (for linearity). Remember, back in the 'old days' when 8-12mm xmax was average, the IDQ's still stood out as a SQ award winning driver. Many companies have tried copying the IDQ design. What can I say, ID simply knows how to make great sounding drivers. IDMax is yet another example. If you were around then and recall, the IDMax was one of the very first 'supersubs' with monster excursion potential to hit the market (god I remember the anticipation on these boards for YEARS before its release lol). Many years later its still considered a top contender for one of the best sounding SQL drivers made.

IDQv3 looks very promising. Cant wait to get my hands on one.

200 watts on any 10" sub in an automobile is too small.........200w is good for home theatre but not in a car my friend, imo

a car needs 500 watts minimum to get things moving
This is a generalized statement and I would say it is not always true. Depends on the speaker rating, box design and also how effecient it is.IMHO

Here is what ID has on the homepage. Look at this if you are running a true

200wrms you should be fine. But you have no headroom. I would rather be running a true 300wrms. 500wrms would give you the head room you need. If you have a amp that is rated at 200wrms that is over rated and its only pushing 150wrms then you are going to be on the short side of things here.IMO Is a true 500wrms going to hurt the speaker, who knows?

The new IDQ's do look insane man.

They are supposed to be coming out with a new Max too.

That is a terrible generalization. I have 300w running to my 12" sub and it is more than loud enough for now. It also gets my hatch moving pretty well.

10's are 300, 12's are 500, 15's are 600... per ID's website.
Yes, the IDQ being so famous for being a small sealed enclosure sub, I was amazed how well my 10's perform ported. If I had more output with this system, Id probably never change my sub stage again. A wall of IDQ's would be very nice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
these are the specs for the v2's. the v1 12's that many people have could only take 350 and the 15 was rated for 500. no clue about the 10. it'll be interesting to see how much power handling the v3's add to the mix. i may just go back to the idq line after their release. =)

Yes, all my specs have been based on the V2 model. V1's are pretty rare these days.
