My IDQ10 is very disappointing

So, I have an IDQ10 in about a 0.6 cu ft. sealed enclosure powered by an arc audio 200.2 I believe. It puts out 200wRMS at 4 ohms bridged. I'm running the gain at about 3/4 and the bass response feels like it barely reaches me from the trunk of my car (Nissan Sentra.) Should I be feeding it more power? Thanks.

A single sealed 10 in a trunk car is not going to have overwhelming bass. Add that with a low excursion, low output driver and you shouldn't have a ton of bass in the cabin.

Try popping the trunk open and see if it's louder in the cabin. Try removing the rear speakers as well.

Feeding it more power is not likely to help as adding power is a terrible way to increase output. If you play around with the sub placement and trunk clearing and things don't change, you should try going ported. Contrary to popular belief, a properly ported enclosure with that sub will yield excellent sound quality.

I ran a pair of IDQ 12s at one point in time.

I ran them sealed, then tried them ported.

Porting them was definately a step up, although they are not loud drivers.

Try porting it and removing your rear deck speakers.

If it's not loud enough it might be time to look into new woofers. IDQ is an excellent sounding driver, but your expectations for it may have been too high.

i make up for the lack of SPL with a pair of 15" idqs and 800w.

hope that helps.

Well, I'm not trying to upgrade, I'm selling my car I just want to get the sub sounding a bit better. My last sub was a 15" Kicker L7 and I went from that to an IDQ 10. However, I've had the IDQ for a few months and I don't want any overwhelming bass. But I really barely can hear the sub when I'm driving. It sounds like some coaxes lol. I figured I could feed it about 3-400 watts though and I could get some more output.

I don't think you understand. Adding more power is going to do you very little good if you're already getting a good amount of excursion from the sub. IDQs are very efficient drivers and do not need much power to reach full excursion. While you could give it around 300watts, it won't give you much more output. Doing the things I said earlier will help point to a much better method of getting more output.

Hell, even your crossover settings may be jacked.

that's my next sub setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well, I tried in the past moving the sub around in various different positions and I couldn't notice an audible difference. I also fold my seats down and the difference was pretty minimal. I don't feel like building another box I just wanna get it all good and right for sale. But w/e I might just leave it up to the next owner to do what he wants with it. I don't think I've heard the full potential of this sub thats all. And it does move but not too much.
