My IDQ10 is very disappointing

So, you're saying these subs shouldn't be fed more than 200wRMS? I was gonna try giving the sub about 350wRMS but maybe I shouldn't now.
I fed mine 500 a piece

Adding power is probably the least efficient way to get loud, although if you add some power, port it and open up your cabin somehow it may make a difference.

Power by itself may not do too much, although doubling the power sometimes yields a 3db increase.

Like I said before, though, your expectations may have been a little high.

Well, I don't have high expectations. I had a jl w3 the old **** cones and I had a 10" sealed playing off of 300wRMS and it was plenty of bass for me (in the same car). The idq10 isn't even slightly comparable =/

I am thinking the samething a couple other people have mentioned. Maybe you just expected to much out of the sub. The person above me is right is a good front stage blender and is good for the SQ ways. If you want something more, kinda like you being used to a L7, then I would look into another sub or like REQ said, he makes up SPL with two 15's off 800 watts. I really dont think you going from 200rms to 350rms will do much of a difference.

If I was you, I would port it and give it close to 300rms and see how that goes. Other wise, I would look into other subs, like the IDMax! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Eh, you guys aren't understanding. =P I am not getting rid of the sub, I'm selling my car and trying to get everything right for sale. I didn't wanna do much else, but maybe I'll have to spend the time and go ported. And I really don't have high expectations lol......... If I can't hear much bass, I can't hear much bass, period. I haven't had the L7 in months and months, I haven't been expecting anything near that. Eh, thanks for your replies, I suppose I'll try building another box.

Hi, I went from a 15" SPL oriented sub to a low powered 10" SQ sub, in a sealed box, in my trunk, with large amounts of foam, plastic, metal and upholstery between it and me... can someone tell me why its so quiet? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Do you have any first hand experience with these subs?
IDQ10's will simply not survive on 500 watts each. If you think they will, its YOU that has too little experience with them. You are running 15's, the discussion is about 10's. There is a reason ID rates the 10's at half the power rating as the 15's. And frankly, its irresponsible for you to recommend such a setup when you have never tried it.
And before you ask, Im currently running two IDQ10's, and have used IDQ's in various sizes for over 10 years now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sigh, audioholic I Don't understand why you made that comment. My friend has a cheap 10" rockford sub that's clearly a lot louder than mine. The point is that I really BARELY can hear ANY bass reaching me up front. It has NOTHING TO DO WITH MY PAST SUBS. I listen to different subs all of the time, and my brothers volvo s80 has more bass in his stock system anyway. It reallY IS NOT REACHING ME!!! ffs just end this thread I hate you people who obviously can cling my ears on to yours and hear what I'm hearing. My god there cant be one thread in the forum without some fcukers ego in play. Thank you good night.

Well he kinda answered ur question, telling u that u shouldn't really feed it 500 like the other guy suggested. It's true we can't hear what ur hearing so there has been multiple suggestions to try to help u. Take whatever u want from this thread but there were helpful tips

Also u just said u had the gain's at set at 3/4 but that doesnt mean ur feeding the sub 200rms. It's possible u can be feeding it barely 100rms. I know when i test the voltage for my amp it goes from 1v-8v's all the way up to about 5/8 of the gain setting, but then past that it jumps up to the 20's then 30's then 40's. Check the gain settting tutorial as well.

Jesus dude calm down, it was a friendly joke. Hence the smiley faces at the end of it.

Sorry you took it so horribly wrong, no offense intended.

Yes, IDQ's are not ground pounders. Porting them really opens up their output though Ive found, with very little sacrifice to SQ (depending on your box of course). But no, Im not at all surprised one lil 10" IDQ in a sealed box in your trunk is barely audible. Not meaning to offend you with that statement, just saying not really surprised. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif You can try porting it if you wanna mess with that much work for a seller, or I dunno... live with it? heh

Trying to be helpful, we dont want people thinking badly of this site now do we? lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
