My honda project

if you are boosting your compression is kinda high...and you dont need vtec for turbo..in fact just changin the intake to a z6 and stage 3 port and polish would be better flow.

got my block back today.. bored .20 over

9.5:1 is hella low.. everyone i know is like at 10.5 or 11.1 on turbo car's.. it doesn't matter what it is, its all in the tuning
10.5 or 11.1 is pushing it with an NA motor on pump gas. With aluminum heads and more pressure in the cylinder I dont see how you are able to pull this off. Im not used to 4 bangers Im more into v8s but the same properties should be true.

i run 13psi on my 10.8to1 compression vw. pump gas and cast pistons.

and i put together a 9to1 compression 468bbc that will get turbo'd when i start getting the drivetrain into the chassis

but i seen a few of those vitara builds and they seem capable of making plenty of power, prolly more then the 1.8t

9.5 compression + boost = detonation IMO
How many lbs you plan on running?
That's why it's your opinion. With a competent tuner it's not a problem at all.

You can run good ole 93 pump to about 12.5:1 C/R but don't expect a bunch of timing in the tune. We've pulled 30ish lbs of boost on 10:1 C/R with out a problem, but that's on E85.

I'll be going with a Darton sleeved block very soon to 85mm with 8.5:1 C/R and shooting for around 500whp on low boost. My last car was sick... 84mm sleeved GSR with a CAST revhard log manifold on stock cams and made 347whp on 11lbs or so, what ever the wastegate spring was.. If I would have went on a better fuel and a topmount manifold I would have been looking at 700whp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I agree; it doesn't. :) See my comment above on Tuesday at 4:08 pm; in short, I'll use the auxiliary port on the FM transmitter.
