My honda project

That's why it's your opinion. With a competent tuner it's not a problem at all.
You can run good ole 93 pump to about 12.5:1 C/R but don't expect a bunch of timing in the tune. We've pulled 30ish lbs of boost on 10:1 C/R with out a problem, but that's on E85.

I'll be going with a Darton sleeved block very soon to 85mm with 8.5:1 C/R and shooting for around 500whp on low boost. My last car was sick... 84mm sleeved GSR with a CAST revhard log manifold on stock cams and made 347whp on 11lbs or so, what ever the wastegate spring was.. If I would have went on a better fuel and a topmount manifold I would have been looking at 700whp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
Yea 12.5 NA on pump gas is doable with no timing. Retarding timing is stupid. You can make more power by lowering the comp to reasonable levels and throwing more boost in with more timing. You even say you plan to run 8.5:1 on your next build. I thats where I would run at to be safe on the street. I daily beat everything that I build.

How much do you think this project will set you back all said and done? Even tho I absolutely hate imports I may just build a sleeper for cheap and surprise people. Would be totally stock appearing because I hate rice haha

high compression + boost is silly IMO. The energy lost by going from 9.5 to 9 is nill and the ability for mbt to not be limited by knock allows more efficient use of every pound of boost. But I know every tuner has their own opinion.

fully built bottom end will be around $500... $300 for rods.. $120 pistons..u need bearings ect and sum machine work, but thats cheap..
By all said and done I meant all the costs including the cost of the car and the total of all the money your putting in it.... Not just the basic engine build.

Im not really familiar with making hondas fast but I am interested so bear with me.

Im talkin all upgrades your doing including the block, turbo, cams, fuel system, exhaust, clutch, tuning, etc. A parts breakdown would be great. I want to see how much money you spent and what kind of results you get.

My buddy and I had plans to buy a beater honda and make it a fast sleeper but we never followed through. If it can be done cheap and have good results maybe I'll look into a civic or something for a winter project.

I cant beleive I even said that. Haha I told myself I would never own an import but they seem like they can be a cheap platform that is fun to drive with very little work and money.

x2 it can be done, but i would rather have alot more timing to play with instead of being on the edge of detonation with very little timing and the same amount of boost. But like the man said to each his own.

my friend has a 92 civic hatch..spent $600 on a stock b18a motor...turbo that running 16lbs on E85 and makes 400whp and runs mid 11's in the 1/4 on stock motor.. he only spent like $2g's on his set up. just depends what goals u have. i bought my car for $600

d16 motor say $250-300 stock

Rods/pistons $450

machine work $200 cause u need to notch block ect deck it

Stock head is good for 400hp

just use stock tranny

clutch/flywheel $300ish

Turbo t3/t4 good for 500whp $650

exhaust just straight 3" is cheap

tunning is pretty cheap.. lots of free programs

fuel injectors/fuel pump $400ish

I agree; it doesn't. :) See my comment above on Tuesday at 4:08 pm; in short, I'll use the auxiliary port on the FM transmitter.
