Hello, I am looking to install a high quality sound system in My 1992 Honda accord lx sedan.

I am willing to spend ~$800... A little more if necessary.

I am looking at a subwoofer and speakers. Here they are for Your consideration.

i would recommend to avoid the boss audio equipment. for the $100 you spend on the components you can get way better for a similar price. the soundqubed components would be a huge difference at the same cost. check them out.

Stay away from the Boss stuff. For a little more ($149.99) you can pick up a set of Polk Audio db6501's that will sound way better than the Boss listed. The crossover also gives you a little tuning ability on the tweeter. The good thing is that if you don't like them, Crutchfield has a great return policy.

Same speakers here for $99.95 from the Polk Audio eBay store. They are factory refurbished and carry a warranty from Polk.

I would recommend these enclosures form Boston Acoustics. They sound nice and have good output. I had the 10" version and was very happy with it. I think either of these would sound better than the Kicker enclosure. Kicker usually tunes their enclosures on the high side. The Boston enclosures are tuned a little lower, 34Hz for the 10" enclosure, and 32Hz for the 12".

For $300 to $370 you can get a good foundation with your drivers, and have a good chunk left for other gear.

Funny how Boss tried to make those components look like Hertz Mille drivers.

It's always awesome to see a new guy wanting to get into the car audio genre. Learning a trade that teaches one to work with their hands, becoming knowledgeable about electricity, fabrication, and learning to take time and troubleshoot problems instead of just paying someone to do the work for them. If I wasn't so manly, I could probably cry.

You are better off listing your max budget, you can do ok with $800 but it won't be high quality. List the space you want to lose, what can you do yourself like fab work and box building. If you have to pay to get it done $800 will not get you much.

he'll learn, besides u have to make mistakes also that will not be his last system anyway, once he gets in to it, he will upgrade, so just start small and get into it and learn it and will go from there.

Are you suggesting the OP waste his money on purpose? He's asking us for advice, so we should give him advice. Not just tell him to waste his money and learn for himself.

To the OP: Do not buy Boss equipment. Just don't. I would avoid those kickers in the pre-fab box aswell. I can attest that the kicker boxes that come from the factory are tuned too high, and too small for the woofer. A friend of mine has those subs in the exact same box, we built a box and it sounds worlds better. Actually hits the lows now. You should probably avoid Kicker's sub line altogether. If you really want subs + box from the factory i'm sure there's other manufacturers that have packages like that, with actually good equipment and a decent box. Do research.

I'd suggest finding some good bang-for-your-buck subs. On the budget side, without sacrificing quality. Sundown's SA line comes to mind. 2 SA 12's should be like 400 bucks. Build a box and find a good quality mono amp. Not sure if your $800 budget covers everything you want, or just subs...

$800 was the total budget... but it sounds like I need to spend more. Which is fine I will just have to put it off for another month or two.

Does $1100 open up some better options?

I should be able to install/wire up everything. I don't think I should mess with box building however.

I will continue looking and researching keeping all that You have said in mind.
