My first system, fairly tight budget, comments and suggestions appreciated

My first system and also my first post.

This is what I'm looking at:

HU: Pioneer deh-p780mp

Sub: Alpine Type R 12", 4 ohm DVC wired to 2 ohms through a Visonik V317SX 600w amplifier. I'll be building my own box(sealed).

Speakers: Phoenix Gold 6-1/2" ZR Component System running through a Power Acoustik PS2-300 amplifier

If anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Especially if I could find anything cheaper somewhere else. This summer when I have more money, I will probably switch to an active 3-way front stage. If I do use a rear fill(which I am doubting), It will probably just be stock speakers.

I'd like to get either the Pioneer 780mp or 880prs. I've used and liked 780mp at a store, but I'm not sure if I should just go ahead and get the 880 for a few dollars more. I like the look of the 780 more though.

My mind is pretty set on the Alpine Type R. I really liked it at some local shops.

BTW, this is all going in a 1995 Ford F-150 Eddie Bauer. I will be doing my own install.

spend 20 more dollars on your sub amp and get

I would stay clear of Visonik.

then spend 10 bucks more on your high amp and get this one

nothing wrong with power acoustik on a tight budget but I like to get one with a bit more power than I need because chances are its overrated a bit.

Other than that..

The R is a solid sub. Sonix is running a sale on these though

2 for the price of one. Plus a 5 year warranty. I know they are not the same quality but if you decide to go that way just grab a 1ohm stable amp that is 800 rms @ 1ohm. 5 year warranty i cant argue with that. Oh yeah and its free shipping.

Headunit you selected will work great. Same with the comps you should be fine there.

Welcome to the forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Looks good, other than the visonic amp. You will want some meat to push that type R. Should have a nice set up.

i would put the type R in a ported box and keep an eye out in the classifieds here for a nice mono amp that does 750-1000rms. dont waste the money on visonik you can get a decent used amp for a nice price on here. good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions on the amps. I'll probably switch to them. My mom wants me to cut back some more though.... Any way you guys could suggest me a good, but cheap HU that has decent options(especially EQ)?

Nice find on the HU, thanks a lot. It's on SonicElectronix for $150 + shipping. Is a Phoenix Gold R 4.0:2 amp any good? I may be able to get a decent deal locally.

@ Mountaineer Man: why the //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif at Dave's post?
