I don't hire people with GEDs. I manage a restaurant and I get tons of people that apply for jobs with only GEDs. I throw the apps away. At least get a real high school diploma.

Well just because they did not graduate does not mean anything at all, especially for the restraunt business, for all you know you are throwing away the best chef you will ever hire just because of a peice of paper. Though diplomas do well in the world and can get you far, it does not reflect very well any experience in the job that is being aplied for. I do plan on going to college though, and obtaining some sort of degree in business, that will help alot.

yep and i bet this idiot has a full mexican cook staff!!! i want to see some high school diplomas from them- it doesn't take a rocket scientist to say" can i take your order"?

No offense to you or your father, but what kind of parent lets their kid drop out of school? and why do that? you won't get very far without a high school diploma(i guess you could get a GED).

Wrong.

I dropped out of highschool when I was 16. Nobody needs to graduate to have a future, my highschool education was TOTALLY useless to me. I got a GED then I got a 1300 on my SATs and am graduating with a BSE in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in May, oh and a 3.7 GPA too. I've also been accepted into the master's program for the fall.

Sorry, what was that I heard about not hiring someone at a RESTAURANT? Oh well, I'll have to work somewhere else then.
