Hey bud, can you do me a favour? I have two 12" Volfenhag subs. They're really cool. Do you think you could design me that magic box which allow me to hit 164dB with those subs???

get real....................change your post or people gonna laugh......................you can only stretch the definition of all install & rest products so much..............

So don't even try. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif
A setup I did with 2 JL12W6's, did a 148. I doubt you could really get much more out of them, as I was already overpowering them by 150 watts apiece. You may be able to get another 3 db or so with a ported box, but I don't see an increase of 8. We did everything we could possibly do, his original setup was pushing a 146. We gave the sub more power, built the box bigger, and added a crossover, all that and only 2 db difference.

my 1st install was 8 12" Jensen Handprint subs. Did 175dB, got a bleeding nose, killed my neighbours cat & not to mention smashed my windows. ...............oh & it was all sealed boxes too, powered by a FleaMarketShit 5000WATT MAX amp................gimme a break.........//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

So your saying you were metered at 164 with 2 MTX 12's, yet you can only get a 156 with 2 JL 12's. MTX is starting to go a little down hill as far as their subs are concerned. MTX might get a little louder, if any than the JL's, but even if we are talking a difference in db's. There is no way MTX will outperform JL by 8 db's. I can point out one main factor. JLW3's handle 250 RMS and MTX 8000's are 400 RMS (just guessing), so taking the power factor into consideration, you would need to double the power to get an output of or around 3 db. Power and enclosure would give you the most drastic improvement, they both require basically the same ported enclosure, so I doubt you would gain much there. The JL12W6 has more excursion than the MTX8000. I just don't see where you could get a difference of 8db.
