My car is a pile of junk!!!

i just bought my first new vehicle less than a month ago, so i know a little bit about what you are going to go through. do you have a bank account set up? what about a credit card? i would try to get approved financing before you start shopping. if you can afford 150-200/month you can get a pretty nice car. it'll depend on your interest rate and how long you finance and how much you can put down but you should be able to get something you wont be throwing extra money to for repairs. there are several rate calculators online to help you figure out your payments, too.
Yea i have a savings and checking account set up, no credit card yet though.

you'll have to get a co-signer then without having any credit score. unless you go to one of those places you pay bi-weekly or something like that. but you can probably get a better interest rate at your own bank then if you went to a dealer to get financed. but be prepared to have to put money down which could be required by your lender. you could sell the neon as was mentioned by someone else or possibly trade it in if you go to a dealer and they dont try to **** you on the value.

any idea on how long you want to pay for the vehicle?

you can try THIS CALULATOR to see what you're lookin at.

some ideas:

american cars usually crap out after 100,000 miles

import cara are a LITTLE more expensive to repair but last longer.

you can snag a nissan/mitsu/honda all day long for cheap.
I dont recall that many american cars that died around 100,000 miles //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif . Think before you talk. A lot of american cars have a lot more than 100,000 miles on car lots and run fine.

Well i guess im upping my budget, today we took the POS back to the dealer and i drove a 1999 Jetta, 87k miles, rims w/ low pro tires, v6. It was pretty cool and he wants 9k for it, so idk. There also was a 1997 Infiniti I30 with 145k miles for $6,000, i also drove that and it was a smooth ride but im not sure i want to invest in a car with 145k miles on it. I also went to another lot with a 2004 tacoma with 55k miles for $14000, didnt drive it but a possible consideration.

im gonna take a wild stab and say...blown head gasket on the neon...

why?

cause like i said before, those things blow head gaskets like there's no tomorrow

fix?

double gasket...yes approved by dodge/chrysler/etc

**** YOU BUSY SERVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

early 90's for rangers last FOREVER and they're cheap to repair. Mine (1992) lasted 170,000 miles and the only major thing that was fixed was a new clutch slave cylindar. it was still running strong when i sold it, its now zipping around somewhere in mexico.

LOL howd you find that out
the guy that bought it from me told me so. he and his wife live in chicago, but he his family was in mexico. he would buy two cars anywhere in the states, and drive them down to mexico (towing the 2nd car). he would fix them up (3x cheaper than in the states) and sell them. he told me he could replace the engine and ****** in my ranger for under $200!!! he said that my truck would see another 75-100k miles, easily. kinda wierd, but he gave me $300 more than anyone else was offering!

if i get a new car i would sell you my 2001 corolla for 5.5k thats including my setup .. almost 88200 miles .. some rust on passenger side //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
