My amps pwn me

Well, now that everything is hooked up and playing, I have tried to start tuning everything to my liking. I started playing around with the 4 channel amp and quickly found myself not quite understanding the controls. Here is a pic:

The red marks the "sensetivity range", which can be configured to be 0.15-1.5V or .5-5V (now the symbol between each set of numbers may actually be a division sign or a plus sign, it is hard to make out). Of course, when the sensetivity is set to .15-1.5, it is louder with the same gain setting and would not require the gains to be set as high. Although, even on the .5-5V setting, the gains are still only half way or so. Any thoughts?

Quite honestly, that is the very reason I steered away from the Audi's. They are a little more complicated to configure than I'd like. You can be assured those some of the finest potentiometers used however. Do they have a support forum?

The .15-1.5v would be for lower powered output decks. The .5-5v would be for higher powered deck outputs.

Depending on your deck is which you would want to use. If you deck is 2v or better the .5-5v setting is what I would choose.

Once you decide which one to use, set it with your DMM and you are good to go.

Yeah, I didn't quite know what I was getting myself into. All I know is I loved the way they sounded at the shop, and I got a hell of a deal on them. I think I am going to swing by the store today and get someone to spend some time helping me out (they better for the $$$) and get them going to the max.

That's what I figured, the only thing I got caught up on was the fact that the AVN6600 doesn't put out 5V like it says. My x-over will display what voltage it puts out, but rarely does it get up to the 5V range. I guess if the results can be the same either way, I am leaning toward doing just what you said.

On music I doubt it will ever read 5v. Only time I have seen my 8053 get to 8v was on 0db tones. Its just a factor of music being dynamic and how it is recorded.

With that...I MUST go back to work. Boss is breathing down my neck to get a project done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I am sure I will play around with it this week and can always get an extra .02 tossed in this Saturday. Thanks for the input though.

Tell your boss you have more important things to do and if you are not allowed to do them on work time they will need to find another employee because you'll quit.

The cost of training people is astronomical. It may work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
