anyone have a mustang that has done the big 3? i need pics or anything that will help. there are multiple wires attached to the positive battery terminal and not sure what to do with them. i have 0 gauge wire i want to do it with but dont want to replace any wires that arent necessary. someone told me that one of the wires is to the starter...

if i wouldn't of got rid of my 96 i'd go take some pics...on the mustang you also need to run a ground from the battery to the trunk...there is no good solid ground in the trunk...the body is very high in resistance...your car is a unibody so only half a frame in front and back....reason for lack of a solid ground....

what are u saying about running a ground from the battery to the trunk? is this for my amps? i cant ground it anywhere in the trunk???

He's saying you'll need to run a dedicated ground for your amp, your car's frame is split in two peices, which means electricity is going to have a hell of a time getting to your battery through the frame. You'll need to run a ground to your amp, same as the power.

I got you... give me a minute to upload.

EDIT:: Okay... got it.

This is in a '98, but it should be the same thing:

Just realized the pictures are huge.

****, so i just put them all in the terminal together? should those other wires be upgraded also? looks like the original wires were just reused in your pics.

When i did mine i left the stock wires as well, might not look as good but i knew my car would work when I was done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

yeah thats what im worried about. i want everything to work when im done lol. there are just a lot of wires and its a little intimidating...

I did that with left-overs from previous builds that I've done 'cause I was too broke.

But, you simply need to just connect your wire to the back of the alternator, then to your battery's + terminal, then try to find the shortest place from your battery - to your chassis, then shortest distance from engine block to frame.

I went from ~13v @ idle to 14.3v @ idle and I don't have a fuse yet.

where is the wire from the engine block? thanks a lot for the pics man, really helps!!
I never took one. I did it right off of one of the alternator's bolts... but you can do it wherever. There might even be even better places underneath the car, but I didn't feel like drilling and all of that. I just did alternator bolt to these places:

I didn't want both grounds to be at the same place just for aesthetic purposes and I didn't want to wrestle with it. So, I grounded them right next to each other.

I have to go to class.

If you have any more questions, PM me. I've taken my car apart and put it back together, I know nearly everything about them. Hah. The only difference in our body styles is that the New Edge's V6 had dual-port intake, and that yielded 43 more BHP... and of course the body panels. But other than that, same frame, same inside, same everything.

i have a 99 gt vert but pretty much looks the same inside the engine... u said i needed one from my engine block to the chassis. is there not one there originally?
