Well, going to show my age here. I have a huge collection of vinyl LPs; I started digitizing them in 2007. (over 900 LPs) So, mostly what I listen to is from 1953 to 1967, with commercial CDs of every sort thrown in. What's amazing to hear is a pristine recording made in the very early days of HiFi stereo recording, (1957-1958), on a competent car system. These are analog recordings made using vacuum tube studio pre-amps and amps. The sound is amazingly clear, deep, smooth and detailed. Bert Kaempfert (1957-1962)recordings are a good example of what I mean. Al Hirt is another surprise, on RCA vinyl. My wife and I spent 7 years on the road driving a truck, before I went back into engineering here recently; endless hours of driving to every point in the country will make you tired of any one type of music.
