music stops?

i have a problem...i have 6 1/2 " polk audio door speakers powered by a 4 channel kicker amp. when i put the volume past a certain level (about 25 or 30) the speakers just stop. the back 2 speakers are connected to the head unit and the front 2 speakers connected to the amp. any ideas why this happens? it stops the music but the bass continues hitting and the music turns off and on randomly....maybe a loose wire? any ideas?

Sounds like either you have your gains to high on you amp or you have a loose ground. When your gains are too high on your amp it can send your speakers into clipping and blow them. A loose ground can still play, but when you sent too much power to a loose ground on your speakers or your amp, it will just quit playing.

i just played around with the gains ont he amp and the volume can go higher when the gains are lower but overall at a certain loudness whether in the gains or the volume it starts skipping.....also while it shuts off it starts playing really really low and then gets back to loud again...

P.S the amp controlls the settings for both the front and back door speakers even though just the front are run off the amp. and both speakers are doing this
