Music Editing/Beat Making...Mac or PC?

Well since my old tower has gone to crap, I've been looking for something new. I want to get a Mac since I'll be using Reason 3.0, and I can just easily store stuff on my ipod whenever I want to. But it's hard to find a used Mac with decent specs(1.5ghz+ and 1GB memory) for under $400, whereas I can get a new PC tower with dual processors and 3GB memory for that price.

For all of you music editors and beat makes, which do you prefer. And if you're using Reason 3.0, how low of specs can you get away with while still running the software smoothly? All I'll have on the cpu is Reason, Office, editing software, and some kind of web-browser.

Macs are the best period, and for editing as well. Mine is 3 years old still running great "been dropped 3 times!!!!". Mine is a powerbook g4 runs great. There the best at photo and music editing and other things as well. Oh an 97 was saying there gay that's why almost all artist use them for editing there music?

Well the only thing I'll be doing on it is simple internet/e-mail stuff and music editing. I don't play cpu games, so that kind of stuff doesn't matter to me. I'm also sick of having to pay money all the time for hefty antivirus software...

I would rather try to eat the light up apple on a mac rather than use it. They **** for customization, and they blow *** when you try to upgrade them.... I just built a very cheap workstation for my friend for recording purposes/ music editing.. and it kicks the shit out of his G5 Mac, it only has a athon64 single core with a gig of ram too ...

if you're smart and dont go on the **** sites you wont have to get anti virus software....

and yes there are viruses out there made just to target macs.....be afraid ..be very afraid

You can build a computer for video editing/music editing yourself for cheaper most likely.

And it is not hard to build a PC... and its not as expensive as you think... The prices on retail PCs are jokes. I will never buy a pre-made PC ever again.

Building your own is the best. hands down. Unless you want a laptop, and if you do - you're just gay.

Also if you want to go to starbucks on friday nights wearing your scarf and to check your myspace with your latte in hand, then yea get a MAC.
