i have a 15" mtx 9500 sub and its in a homemade enclosure. the enclosure is to mtx exact specs. the amp is a jbl gto1201.1 amp. when i hooked it up it didnt sound as loud as i thought a 9500 would pound. and the SQ is no good. i thought it could be many things. the deck is the cheapest kenwood. its in a ford truck and the sub fires twards the front seat. i couldnt even hit max excursion on a bass check. what could i do to make it sound better or is this the best it will sound?

thanks

some pics of it would be peachy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Ive had a pair of 9500's, and they do ok but they have their issues as well. some more info on the setup would shed some more light on this.

the a ported box and its hooked up at 2 ohms. its a extra cab truck and the sub if facing right behind the drivers seat. do you think the seat is obsorbong some of the sound?

if i face it up will it be alot louder? i dont know exactly what the amp is tuned to because i had one of the local shops do the job. the sub pounds really hard but i thought a 9500 15 would be alot louder?

the amp is a jbl gto1201.1 mono amp. when all the doors are open and the seats are down it sounds better. when i got it installed the guy at the audio place said my deck wasent puting out a good enough signal to make it sound really good. i just have the simple kenwood deck its the kdc 135 or somthing like that.

I used the cheapest JVC deck I could find for my first ever system, but it didn't seem to matter, the 4 JL10w0s sounded so good and were LOUD!

He might be pulling your chain, but I would just find a buddy and run his RCAs to your truck and put them on your amp and play something from his deck (assuming it is better) and see if you can notice a significant difference.

BTW, any 15 with 1100 watts should be pretty **** loud, and in a ported box, I think it would be pretty hard to be disappointed with SPL, maybe SQ, but not SPL...

Can you take a picture of the box?? I wonder if they made it to small, or made the port to short/long... something doesn't seem right.

its weird because when you sit in the passenger seat and pound it your ears are starting to go numb but when you sit in the drivers seat it doesent even sound so loud. it just gives you a mean massage. its a ported box built to mtx specs. i built it myself and i know i built it right. maybe its just that the sub is pointed the wrong direction. i would face it up but i dont want to waste anymore seats.
