they good sound better than the dd but not so sure they would out bump them go 15 inch dd and the dd would own

Go listen to the 8000, if you like it then buy it. The DD like audiolife said, is capable of putting out more SPL, but the MTX will sound a little better. But, you are the one buying the system so it is ultimately up to you to listen and get a feel for what you like.

Are they any good? Very biased pinion here, but I would say they arent good for SPL or SQ - the are sh*t. period.

For SPL., heres an example, although these subs are not as popular as they used to be, possibly cos of products like the DDs. The shocker xtremes are just the tip of the Shocker Audio iceberg... they will handle all of 2500w rms per voice coil...and more.... they are loud did you know that 7 out of 12 db drag records broken in 2001 were with these subs.... I guarantee that I could take you anytime any day with one at xtreme 12" against at least 4 8000 12's.... and you can quote me on it... (oh and shocker sig series 12 quad coil.... 5000wrms per coil 4 inches throw.... bass that will kill you!!!!!)

the big a$$ed shockers ****** least when someone i knew was testing them..they fell apart. kove can get you a 4 coil armogedon which i knew (1 would do 168 and that was in 1999.) that was from their lead tech who i do trust very well (ate dinner with him at usac finals as i used to be the kove rep and distributor) treo dd adire .........list goes on thing i love about car audio now is there is just sooooooooooooo much more good-great stuff out now.......i think zane would even agree where you used to have 4 or five good companies now you have a dozen or more.

nope was a quad vc with a us amp us 400 on each vc (2 ohm vc) and i believe the car was located near pittsburgh pa (that guy finished 2nd at db drag finals but usin 4 subs..might of been first i knew they took a few titles then but sumthin tells me he had mechanical failure) and in theoredical terms (meaning computer programs and or perfect conditions brought into a controlled environment) was thought to be capable of 170+. kove isnt a joke btw if i recall right they used to own with very small #'s of competitors using it ..and this was right after dd started killin stuff since the filter rules went into effect there hasnt been any leaps or bound jumps in spl a 170+ score is still world class

Hot sh*T!!!!!!! i knew Kove were good, but not that good!!!!!!!!! My buddy around the block has been pounding the crap outta his Armageddons for time and they still sound as great s theday he bought them, but i never knew Kove did 160+ with 1 sub. Awesome!

Still with all the great subs everyone has listed, the man really needs to go out and get a feel for what he wants. Those are all great subs, mtx included.

lol yeah they get razzed (kove ) for having old lanzar ties ......... very good stufff still and i still think its top 5 (and agrees strongly with phat!)

well i had a 15 inch 6000 n a 8000 not to much of a diferince prettymuch just power handling plus the 8000s are a little bit two pricey for not much improvement. whant to rumble get some solo barics i deffinitly recromend them to almost everyone.
