can the coils read ok and it still be blown or locked up...?

Where did you buy this? If its locked up, you deffinitly need a recone regardless of the coils being fried or not. If the motor is misaligned (from shipping damage possibly) then it is no good and you need a completely new sub.

i got it off lightningbolt44 on here.... It was horrribly packaged..... it was in a single box with a littlebit of padding inside. How would i be able to tell if the motor was messed up?

Just look at it, see if the plates are unaligned.

it looked fine when the fedex guy brought it besides the fact that the box was fuked but the sub looked okay then i tried hooking it up and now all i get is that mechanical noise and no movement on the cone at all

well i just looked at it again and thats exactly it......... the motor is misaligned the top two parts are okay but the third is just fuked....... pics soon

dont memphis subs...or old memphis subs get locked if you push them to hard? I heard that recently from someone...were they blowin smoke?
