Mounting depth under 5"

I am looking for either 2 - 8" woofers or 1-10 inch woofer with a mounting depth under 5". Right now I am leaning very strongly toward two ID8's, but I worry about their ability to reproduce the really low notes. I am more concerned about SQ than waking up the neighbors. I am also thinking about using a single 8" and porting the enclosure, however I have never used a ported application before, especially not with a fiberglass enclosure. I have looked at alot of subs, like RE, ID, JL, Adire, and Rainbow, I just am not able to hear most of these woofers due to no local dealers ( except JL, the ID dealer doesn't stock the ID line) Really i am just looking for honest opinions, something you can't readily get at car audio shops anymore.

no 1 cares about ur stupid 8" subwoofers , so go **** a nut

Most 8 inch subs out their simply dont have the surface area to priduce low frequencies very well. However what is low to YOU? Most music rarely drops below 30Hz, and two, three, or even four 8s can produce that kind of music in a sealed enclosure. Not with as much athority as bigger cousins, but well enough. If you want BONE SHAKING lows like 25hz and below, 15s and 18s shine, although some 12s and even 10s in the right enclosure can suffice.

I would go sealed with an irregular fiberglass shape, thats just me. As far as ID goes, since your looking for SQ, cant go wrong with IDQs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Wow, I thought this thread was dead. I ended up going with an ID12 D2v3 and it will be powered by the rear two channels of a USamps i/s 4085. The front channels will be powering some Soundline SLC's. I am using an eclipse deck, Knuconcepts eko 4 channel amp kit, and a custom fiberglass box. I post this for a reason tonight, to show that I choose quality equiptment, maybe not the most expensive, but it would be difficult to argue that anything chosen is not a quality product.

Now, I do not usually reply to ignorant dumb****s in forums, but today I am in a good mood. Iluvslp, the previous sentence and the remainder of this post will refer to you, just to make sure you understand. How on earth did your post benefit the car audio forum? Just as a reminder your post was:

"no 1 cares about ur stupid 8" subwoofers , so go **** a nut"

And just as a reminder, this post was in response to a search for a subwoofer that had a mounting depth of less than 5". There was a reason I was searching for an 8" woofer with a depth of less than 5", it was to place under a false floor and hide it from potential new unlawful owners. I was leaning toward an 8" woofer because I did not think I could find a quality woofer that was 10" or 12" with that mounting depth. I have decided I can raise my floor height without too many ill effects, so I have decided to go with a 12 inch woofer. I came to this decison without the help of your post, and to remind you it was:

"no 1 cares about ur stupid 8" subwoofers , so go **** a nut"

As stated earlier, this woofer will be powered by the back channels of an Usamps I/S 4085, so Mr. iluvslp, it will not be seeing 1000, 1200, or 1500 watts. It will see a rated wattage of 300 watts. Now just so you understand, this is not like the amp you bought from the weekend flea market that says 4000 max watts, this amp will really produce 300 clean watts to my subwoofer, not 400 watts (what the 4000 max probably produces) clipping your woofer do an early death. I think I am done with you know, so just incase you didn't understand me iluvslp.

Iluvslp- GO F*U*C*K YOURSELF!
