Mounting amp in '97 Tahoe

So I don't know where to mount my 4ch amp in my 1997 2dr Tahoe. If you're familiar with this vehicle or have seen any setups in one chime in.

My ideas are thus:

1. Build a false floor in the rear cargo area and hide it under there.

2. Build console sub box and run it all the way up under the dash. Mount the amp to the floor and under the cover of the sub box. This would involve some fiberglassing to make it look right. My favorite of the two ideas, but MUCH harder to accomplish.

If the amp is small enough you might be able to mount it under the rear seat. If you have the skills to do the console I'd do that. It may be harder but once you're done you'll be happy. Better than doing it the easy way then redoing it later. If you mount it under the enclosure just make sure it gets enough airflow to keep it cooled.

Well it's a pretty good sized amp. It would definitely fit under the rear seat, but the seat folds forward to increase cargo area and that wouldn't be possible with an amp under there (don't think, I'll have to double check).

My fabrication skills are none. I'm sure I could do it, just never have. I'll have someone help me with that.

If I mounted it under the enclosure I would leave the sides open, not completely enclosing the amp.

I am in the process of making an enclosure to go under the second row seat...the seats won't lay perfectly flat (raised ~15%), but it should keep the leather in good condition and allow for air to get to the amps.

Should not be too difficult to build a 4 sided box, just insure that it is not square. e.g. short side towards the back of the seat

Why not mount it in the rear with the enclosure.How much room do you have left around your box? You def have enough room under the rear seat but it will not lay flat when folded. Post up a couple of pics and maybe we can you some more ideas.

Mine is mounted in the flap behind the seat.
